Venezuela - coup d'état?

#21
It is an attempt to discuss very serious issue in the thread voided humorous title.
Recognition of self proclaimed president by Washington is not a joke - it is a very serious matter.
You'll be able to read all about it in the Daily Mail then, and read lots of detail.

Do we need another sad old poster complaining about people starting threads - we then get posts of " Holy thread resurrection" when people do just that!
To be fair, that is a fairly active thread.

But also, this is something entirely new, so I think this subject warrants a new thread.

Current Vz thread is funnily enough still in use. A bit better than the tired old 'use the J button'. Nearly as common as tired old posters

So Iraq was not invaded? Oh, I have forgotten... it was liberated.
Iraq was invaded, same as E Ukraine and Crimea. Iraq didn’t become the 51st state or the new ‘dunny on the wold’. Crimea did and of course you still support the separatists in E Ukraine.

And what is your point? That Iraqi war was not illegal?
Meanwhile
Venezuela now has two presidents. How long will the uncertainty last?
It looks as the coup was staged in Washington
Within minutes of declaring himself president, the White House recognized Guaidós authority.
A senior administration official, who spoke on background said that if “Maduro and his cronies choose to respond with violence” or harm members of Venezuela’s congress, “all actions are on the table.” And he said that the economic and diplomatic measures taken thus far “barely scratched the surface” in terms of what’s possible.
We know what is possible.
As for Washington puppets then
As of Wednesday, Brazil, Canada, Colombia and Peru had joined Washington in recognizing Guaidó. But Maduro still has powerful allies, including Russia, China and Turkey.

You’re a lawyer now?
Says Maduro. Still as he’s Putin’s puppet, you’ll support whatever your ‘crooks and thieves’ say.

Same as ‘Russian puppets’ supporting Maduro?

As I understant the existing thread is focused on real or imaginary similiarities between mssrs. Maduro and Corbyn.
In the case of US invasion Moscow could recognise 'its man' as a persident of Ukraine and enter troops.
Ah so...Now we really know what Moscow thinks...Trump recognizes the opposition candidate in Venezuela and Putin considers by that the Ukraine to be under threat and sends in the soldiers to forestall a Yanqui invasion. -of Ukraine.

Venezuela you say? Gross, not even worth a few JDAM’s.

If Guaido comes out on top, hopefully we can resume diplomatic relations with the the country.

Buoyed by protesters and U.S., Maduro rival claims Venezuela presidency | Reuters

Guaiado as recognised by Washington president could call for US troops. Could we expect US intervention in Venezuela or it is just a 'colour revolution'?
Let's wait and see.
Nations which recognize Guaiado as Venezuela's president

USA
Canada
Brazil
Paraguay
Colombia
Peru
Ecuador
Costa Rica
Argentina
Chile
Guatemala

Countries supporting current President Nicolás Maduro
Mexico
Cuba
Bolivia
Turkey
Russia

Maduro has ordered ALL US diplomats out within 72 hours and cut all ties
