Venezuela about to go down the tubes...a lesson for Corbyn and the Labour Party perhaps?

You said you were on it years ago. I was merely questioning the timing.
My figures are spot on because that is what I was getting only last year!
A few years back when I found myself on Universal Credit
Last year...a few years ago.... it's all the same when you're down and out. Although he was at university 6 years ago. That's when he bought his laptop with 6 years free wi-fi!

There appears to be a touch of Bugsy about MrDaves's timeline.

Isn't that more to do with the equality issue though?
Not really. My point was about non contributory benefit farmers winning a case against a perfectly reasonable cap being placed on their unearned income, which is funded by those working yet taking home less than them. Whereas those who have contributed to the system, both male and female in fact, have their rightful benefits deferred.

That's what I was getting at. Smell of burning boxers....

I wasn't disagreeing with you mate.

You don't get benefits when you are at University full time, so you have to pay your own bills, as I did!

Universal Credit imho is a good idea, just not executed well.

Tell me why long term benefit farmers can't have their benefits capped at higher than average wage, when they are paid for by those on below average wage. Also why the multi-offspringed scroungers won their court case to keep high benefits, when female workers who have paid tax and NI for over 30 years are made to wait years longer for their State Pension.
If people on benefits are supposedly getting more money then people who are working full time. It is the working peoples wages which need to be raised. The problem is not solved by lowering the very small amounts of money that people on Universal Credit are recieveing. Lowering benefits will only result in a large increase in crime. The UK has some of the lowest unemployment benefits and pensions in the whole of Europe.

Meanwhile, Venezuela's control of inflation, something entirety within the Venezuelan government's control, has proven to be an outstanding achievement.

Andres Oppenheimer: Venezuela may reach a 10 million percent inflation rate — and 10 million refugees. – Twin Cities
...a leading international economist told me that Venezuela is likely to have a 10 million percent inflation rate in 2019. Alejandro Werner, director of the Western Hemisphere department of the International Monetary Fund, nodded and confirmed that I was not hearing things.

“Yes, 10 million percent, because prices in Venezuela are doubling or tripling every month. And that, when you take it to 12 months, generates an exponential inflation rate,” Werner said. He added that the Venezuelan economy collapsed by 18 percent in 2018, for a total contraction of 50 percent over the past four years. And he projected that it will fall by 5 percent more in 2019.
As St Margaret of Thatcher used to say "socialist governments get into trouble when they run out of other people#'s money to spend". Lets look at that inflation statistic again:

Something that cost you £1 on January 1st would cost you £100,000 on December 31st.

That's nothing to do with US sanctions or the other BS people on the left like to give - it's epic economic incompetence and huge corruption in government.

I Am retired and I don't have 26 grand a year to spend, either earned or unearned DESPITE paying tax and NI for 40 years, much of the tax at 40%. My state pension for which i have overcontributed by 7 years has been deferred for 7 years to balance the budget.

We as a nation cannot afford to pay benefit farmers more than workers. Or treat the non-contributors better than those who contribute.

Whataboutism (also known as whataboutery) is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving their argument, which in the United States is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.

Yes, and you engage in it constantly. You might also look up cognitive dissonance.
