I have some birthday money left over and Iwant to buy something that I normally wouldn't buy for myself as a treat . So I thought about a Samsung VR google set for my mibile phone .
I ve looked on Google to see if folks think that there any good but couldn't really find anything of substance .

A friend of mine got a set for chrimbo and raved about them however Ive been thinking that if they are THAT good how come they haven't become really popular ? A TV pundit says its because the porn industry hasn't picked them up yet ...

I'm not a gamer so anyone on here have experience of them ad tell me what they can be used for apart from gaming .#

wots a fleshlight??
nevermind. The Rift S is widely regarded as the best bang for your pound however supply has been disrupted by something called "covid 19", whatever that is.

They can be found but the price is very high so a lot of people are waiting for supply and normal prices to resume (400)

If you sign up to this site they'll send you a notification whenever Rift S are available at a a variety of stores but you'll have to be quick off themark.

Amazon had 24 in last week at retail (£399) and they were gone in 13 minutes - not before I got one though!

I'm still getting used to it at the moment but I intend to use it for Elite Dangerous. I might give it a whirl with DCS as well.

I've been experimenting with the Playstation VR and 360 degree creative, 'art' videos.

The problem is whilst I'm watching these films and appreciating them fully, in the back of my mind I'm thinking of the possibility that the curtains have parted and the neighbours will see me sitting in front of the TV, starkers but for the headgear.

You could of course use it with you clothes on

I used to have the samsung one where you stuck you phone into the headset and the phone powered it all. I had the same feeling. It's so immersive you start to wonder if the house was being robbed would you even notice.

A mate of mine brought his expensive Samsung headset into work a while back. I think he’d got it free with his phone contract or something.

I got a half decent set from Home Bargains for a fiver. When all is said and done, it’s really not that different to the expensive ones.

Your phone just slots in.

Fun for about 40 mins then the novelty wears off and you’ll never bother again.

It also made me feel really really sick. Bad headache and nausea. Probably best avoided if you’ve had major brain surgery.

The Gear VR only works with specific Samsung phone models. Make sure that yours is one of them if you intend to buy it.

Ah...the old ‘wänking Off to VR porn, taking off your goggles and finding your mum has brought you a cuppa’ scenario...

I keep buying phones without NFC which is awkward but then when I've tried it using a bluetooth remote it doesn't do that much for me. I'd read up on using one as form of NVGs as you switch it to live camera which looked like a bit of fun.

I think a proper headset set up can be a good thing to play with but it needs to take in the outside as well as our brains aren't wired like that,

I had a play years ago in a virtual house and the headset gave you enough information you didn't get confused which is why they work better for gamers IMO.
