USO

Flew out of Tampa (US) Airport on 23rd December and noticed the fine looking USO office as it is almost next to the BA desk. Can't say I've ever seen anything similar at Brit airports for our military or have I not had my peepers open. As a footnote can any cousins tell me what the USO offices do?

USO offices are a little bit like an All Ranks Mess for US Service Personnel. Voluntarily funded and manned; you can get a seat, microwave meal, fruit, cokes and "sodas", nibbles, watch TV, get free Internet etc.

If you're travelling with US Forces you'll probably be OK to use them ( I was in the US on an Exchange visit) but I gather its good form to leave a donation.

Used the USO Lounge at Ronald Reagan, Washington a couple of times, always got a warm welcome. Great place to chill out.

Other Half and friends have used them after asking politely at the front desk
