U.S. Air Force Secretary, Chief To Be Asked To Resign

U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael W. Wynne and Chief of Staff Gen. T Michael Moseley are expected to be asked to resign today, Defense News has learned.

The stunning development follows a series of high-profile scandals and disagreements between Air Force leadership and Defense Secretary Robert Gates during the past year, during which both the Pentagon and Congressional leadership have increasingly expressed frustration about the Air Force's top bosses.

  2. At least thats F-ck ups worth resigning because of.

  3. To be Fair to Gen M he has worked tirelssly to reshape the USAF not just for todays battles but also for future threats......I see the long shadow of Beoing vs EADS on the Tanker contract playing a part..... domestic politics interefering with Def Policy, sadly as as a 4* you are beholden to your masters...politicans.

If he goes it will be a massive loss to USAF and also to the other services especially the USMC and Army.

A great bloke who had real vision and pragmatism, an awesome public speaker...he is being punished for fighting too hard for his men, when Land forces are in vogue,...and picking up a muddle of Cold-war and post-cold-war equipemnt and concepts....his long term assesments are likely to be spot on.

  4. Agreed - it's got precisely fcuk all to do with cruise missiles or 'batteries' going to Taiwan. Or not, as the case may be.
