USA as an Associate Member of the Commonwealth?

This whole being tooled up 24/7 is just an impractical myth.
So the government should have the decency to only try and steal your liberties when it fits with your busy schedule?

The Commonwealth Games are where our sports persons look really good.
Let the Yanks in and it be like the bloody Olympics!

It would be a common courtesy.
You do realise this cam only be carried out during the hours of 9-5pm Monday through to Friday ? Weekends don't exist in HMG. Im afraid this could mean extended waiting times for Americans. We will need forms 1 thru to 5b and section 6c filled out before any of this can take place, and only in blackball point ink in the boxes if you please. That or its start gain with a new form , thats from kiosk number 7 with the queue thats out the front door....

Is this going to have to be filled out in triplicate?

According to Farage the USA are making noises about joining the Commonwealth as an Associate Member.

While it would be a great way for access to US markets is this a good idea? How long before the USA are trying to run the show?

There are lots of pros and cons so let's hear your views.

Daily Express I know but it is the message not the messenger here

US to join Commonwealth? Farage drops BOMBSHELL about Brexit trade BREAKTHROUGH
Reading the article, it comes across as a lot of wishful thinking by Farage. A couple of US governors turning up in town during a Commonwealth knees up so the US must be thinking of becoming an associate member of the Commonwealth?

The US doesn't join anything it doesn't run for its own benefit. At the moment Trump is busy pulling them out of the clubs they are in because they're bad for America as he sees it. The Paris Accord, NAFTA, the Iran Nuclear Deal, the Trans-Pacific Partnership. So I think it unlikely he'll be signing up for the Commonwealth anytime soon.

I do love the quotes from Boris in the article though.

".....it will be, I hope, a really exciting period for the Commonwealth. It's a weirdly harmonious family. It's very positive."

Tell it to the Windrush deportees Boris.

Say you are very sorry for chucking our tea into the drink back in 1773 and we can talk about it. But you have to say you are very sorry first.

Can't we just give you a bigley bowl of KFC and some Ribeyes and call it even? You did after all burn the White House in the scuffle of 1812 which is a bit of a national black eye for those of who know some of our own history.
Besides you can just throw a few Big Mac's into the Thames and shout us down!

It was a wooden shed. They burn easy. You have now built a gay Italian architects wet dream. Thank us. Then say you are very sorry.

We can sit down and talk about you joining our Commonwealth. After the 'very sorry' thing, OBVS.

Update on Lefty O'Doul's......Its closed permanently:(.
No big deal, you can find corned beef pretty much universally. Pastrami is similar, but with a bark of seasoning on it. The world over, if you can find a Jewish butcher, they will sell "salt beef", which is much the same thing.
