Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. New Scientist Article.
    JAMA Paper

An interesting article, and the paper that prompted it, on PTSD and its likely epidemiology (if thats the correct word) in US forces. There is some comparison of the US and UK experience (expanded on in this article) which suggests that more long term monitoring of returning troops might be prudent.

Deployed UK troops seem to be more "resistant" but this might be explained by lower proportions of reservists, higher proportions of previously deployed pax and relative levels of conflict in deployment areas.

It seems a soldier is for life not just for (home in time for) Xmas.
