US Politics, Establishment & Canada.

Is it correct, or not that the US establishment (Presidency, Pentagon, Industrial Complex) distrust and dislike Canadians, and would like to "own" the whole of Canada and its resources if it could, by fair means or foul, to add it to the "American Empire?"

Sorry I thought it was April already.

To the hole.

I will not buy this record,it is scratched.

Was there not recently released documents from WW2 years that if the Canadians went "Red" in 1939, that the US was planning to bomb a number of Canadian cities? The Yanks still have a "thing" about socialism and communisms.

US had color War Plans for many contingencies

War Plan Emerald was a US v. Ireland war
WP Scarlet was a US v.UK war
WP Orange was war with Japan

Pretty much every professional military staff makes such plans as a just in case.

By the way never heard the Canadians in 1939 were planning on going red you have a source?

Plan Red was for a US attack on Canada, as part of a hypothetical war with the British Empire (not just the UK). The key part was aerial bombing to drop poison gas on Halifax, followed by amphibious invasion. Halifax was (along with Bermuda) a key British naval base in the western hemisphere, and thus a key defence asset. Additional invasions and occupations of the rest of Canada would be conducted in support of this, but Halifax was the number one objective.

More recent analysis suggests that the US seriously underestimated the difficulty of amphibious invasion, and it probably would have been a fiasco. Overland invasion to Halifax would have been even more challenging, considering the geography and the transport infrastructure of the time.

Canada was aware of US plans and had it's own defence plan, which consisted of a pre-emptive strike down along key transport corridors, followed by a retreat while smashing up roads, bridges, and railways to hobble the invasion force. This was intended to buy time while Britain prepared some suitable response.

I'm not sure how serious the US plans were, but money was allocated to build the air bases to support it. Someone screwed up though and accidentally published the air base part of the plan and it ended up in the newspapers. Oops!

Fortunately, Herr Hitler soon gave everyone something else to think about, so Plan Red got filed in a back drawer.

Got to keep the EOC people busy when there isn't a shooting war on and they don't exist, otherwise you lose skillset.

And the Quebecois, don't forget.

Mind you, the US have had some success in dealing with troublesome minorities who didn't want to be part of the United States. I'm sure they'd be able to solve the Quebec Question.

Canada is already owned by America, it was bought during the first world war, I read all about it in a secret document called Night Probe, written by a secret agent called Clive Cussler. The new joined country was to be called the United States of Canada.
