US Military spends 41m on Viagra. (While Donald vetoes transgenders).

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. The NHS generally doesn't pay for Viagra unless there is another medical condition that compounds the problem, Sildenafil is available as Private Prescription for the general cause (Tesco <£3 for eight)

  2. Riiiiiiiiight! So....... Does Donald T. Rump's edict mean that US ex servicemen (and wimmin of course, since, although wimmin don't suffer from ED - unless you count clit dysfunction, but not being a doctor .... Anyway I read somewhere that wimmin are not affected by Viagra and similar drugs, but non the less we have to be all embracing and all inclusive in this modern age of equality etc, blah) will not be allowed prescriptions for nob erecting drugs if they intend to pump up transgenders, chix with dix, sailors, marines and similarly afflicted sections of the populations with sexual normalities?

  3. You read his mind if you can, who knows with him? But that's not what I'm interested in. As an ex-pat I'm interested in how far the MOD/NHS are helping out (ex)servicemen on the same lines if they in fact do.
In fact how much help they get in general TBH.

The general drift I am picking up, and have picked up from these pages, seems to total not far above zero, especially for ex-servicemen. I imagine most of the help will be in-unit, as far as I can glean from here.

Ready to be corrected by all means.

  4. For what its worth, of the trade names Viagra, and Cialis, the former has been out of patent in Europe for a while, and the latter will be in November.

I believe that the makers of Viagra managed to get the patent time extended in the USA, probably using the same means as that which stops other things from running out of patent or copyright in the 'Land of the Free'. And it would explain the high costs to a degree.

Apart from that, it seem to be the case that regular 'Recreational' (cough) use of these drugs tends to increase the chances of a stoppage when wanting to work unaided. Which makes me wonder, if a chap was having to use the drugs from necessity, would their very use ensure their continued use, and thus a nice little earner ?

  5. Looks like there's a swamp needs draining right there.

A good dose of private healthcare is obviously what they need.

  6. The VA provides free healthcare (of a dubious socialized variety/quality) to all the veterans until death. You don't think some old vets deserve a boner? I am pretty sure viagra has other uses as well and many DOD employees can also get VA care.

  7. The article says family members, too.

Basically, socialism seems to be fine if it's wrapped in Ol' Glory.

  8. It's a benefit of military service - they take care of the veterans and it's nothing to do with socialism. The care is not great sometimes, but it's generally adequate (like the NHS).

The only socialists seem to be some of the equal opportunity hires, chosen for skin color/ethnicity/gender rather than qualifications. Trump is making it easier to fire the poor employees now though.

  9. Well, of course not. Cradle-to-grave entitlement regardless of contribution for the individual employee and their family is nothing to do with socialism, not if it involves the military.

  14. I thought the punishment for not standing to attention properly would involve extras, pokey drill sessions and regular show parades
