US ignores boycott call

Oh this is interesting......

The US has said it will deal with members of the new Palestinian government who are not from Hamas, despite calls from Israel for a boycott of the entire government.

"Individuals who are not members of foreign terrorist organisations but who do hold office in the unity government, we do not rule out contact with those individuals," a spokesman for the US embassy in Israel said.

Israel has called on the international community to uphold a boycott of the entire government until it explicitly agrees to international demands, including recognition of the Jewish state and renunciation of violence. US ignores boycott call

Well, it's a step in the right direction. At least they've stopped acting as if 'Palestinian politician' = 'terrorist'.

Now if only they can stop automatically equating 'Israeli politician' with 'noble freedom fighter and upholder of democracy'. A bit of critical analysis wouldn't go amiss.

Maybe someone pointed out that that attitude was paradoxical to the traditional US policy toward Norn Iron and that the "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" theory ought to be further explored if the US is ever going to get even the loosest grip on various problems related to stability in the Middle East.
