Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does anybody have any thoughts on the country of origin?
Italy has been suggested; but I suspect only because they look like an Italian rifle, having only been dropped the once!

  2. Millets????????

  3. I think they're Swedish and there is a sort of trangia cooker that goes with them.

  4. Yes it was, in the early 80's if my memory serves me right. :D

  5. Well there is a Swedish Trangia which does have a similiar Billy to it but this is not it.

  6. Definitely not:

  7. I bet you that, somewhere on the web, is a site devoted to "mess-tins of the world"...

My guess would be recent East European - Poland or Hungary maybe.

  8. That's the jobbie!

Well, er... they're definitely not Swedish!

  9. You all need to get out more.

  10. These can be had on ebay for about a tenner, whilst fairly heavy for ops that's good value for the burner and billy by themselves.

  11.

  12. They look like the current issue Japanese tins. The big deep one is used as a rice cooker.
