  1. WTF? Do they never watch the telly? Time to run Danger-UXB again?

Danger UXB! <Link to Daily Express article; not the TV series.

A retired Met inspector told me once as a station sergeant a squaddie brought in and set on the desk an AA round he had taken off lads - a hundred or so miles away - when he spotted them kicking it about the street like a football. He had put it in the boot and drove it to London. The sergeant, at the same time, was a member of the RMP and threatened to send a complete report to the squaddie's CO. That got his attention to a higher degree than the possibility he might have been blown up.
  2. When I was at school a mate bought in a stick of commercial explosive he'd found in his coal.

Some had oozed out of the side, so we collected a (tiny) bit and tried to detonate it by running a current from a battery through it. Talk about junior Darwin candidates...
  3. Done better hitting it with a hammer.
