underrated films.

I recently watched "outlander" a 2008 film with a great cast and as an adventure/action movie better than Indiana Jones by a long chalk. Another underated movie for me was "Body of lies" again a great cast and a good story. A look at the new criteria for academy awards means the end of that bodies relevance. Subversion in art will deal with that, free speech on a plate, the left knows nothing and learns nothing, **** 'em.

Very partial to ''Nobody's Fool'' with Paul Newman and Jessica Tandy.

In no particular order:

Ships With Wings
That Hamilton Woman
Lifeline To Victory
The Bridges Of Toki-Ro
Spies Like Us
Whoops Apocalypse
Flight Of The Intruder
Duel
Armed And Dangerous
The Fourth Protocol

There are others that I cannot remember the names of. There was an American film about three astronauts trapped in a space station.

Solaris? I remember the original was Russian Solaris (1972) - IMDb Saw some of it.
The American version was three decades later Solaris (2002) - IMDb Haven't watched that. I tend to avoid remakes unless they are particularly good as the majority aren't.

Does anybody know of one of my favourite movies, well up in my top ten "The Last Valley" starring Michael Caine?
Whenever I have mentioned this to anybody over the last forty or so years (even to film buffs who like this sort of thing) have never heard of it and tell me that I am talking bolox but knowing me, I probably am.
Set during the Hundred Years War in plague-ravaged Europe, merceneries find a valley village that has been unaffected and they decide to over-Winter there.
Cracking movie. Errmm, I am sure that it does exist? Bedtime rum beckons.

Edited for Old Rosie, rum and for being a d*ck.

Many thanks to yourself and @Joker62 although I still feel like a bit of a tit for not doing that meself.
I may have, I believe, a DVD or VHS of it somewhere.
Has anybody else seen it? (the movie, not my copy of it).

Yes that is it. I remember Gene Hackman in it looking a bit rough, and Gregory Peck as a NASA official getting stopped for speeding. I am not quite sure what happened in the end - I think the Russians rescued them?

There is another related film about attempts to rush to the Moon with one man missions but I cannot remember the name.

Wasn't 'Cairo Fred' in it as the baddy ?

The Crew.

One of my all time favourites. Bunch of crocked old retired wise guys get themselves into trouble with a cocaine kingpin.

Whilst not a film as such, the two part mini series Family Of Spies tells the story of the Walker-Whitworth spy ring who were busy selling US and NATO naval secrets to the KGB. The lax security procedures are breathtaking.

Another mini series I remember was one called Pursuit, about an SS Officer who was implicated in the July 1944 plot against Hitler, but later has plastic surgery and pretend to be a Jewish refugee, emigrated to Israel, and becomes a senior IDF Officer. Decades later his past catches up with him, as his son has become a Nazi hunter, and Neo Nazis find him and blackmail him into giving them Plutonium. He puts end to the plot with an IED, supposedly similar to that used in the July 1944 plot.

Kenneth Branagh's Conspiracy: on paper, should be dry as anything as all set in a couple of hotel rooms, but a dramatisation of the Wansee Conference when the Nazis settled on the Final Solution. Absolutely stellar caste: Branagh as Heydrich; Stanley Tucci as the meticulous Eichmann, typing up the minutes whilst playing classical music on the gramophone; Colin Firth as the lawyer, relaxed about killing Jews in principle, but worried about the legal framework; and many others.

I watched that on Tv back in 1983 or 84, and haven´t seen it since. I haven´t even heard anyone mention it until today. I also remember it as a cracking movie. I had actually forgotten the name of it - knew it had ´Valley´ in the title, but that was it.
