  1. Hi all,

I wonder if anyone is able to help me? I was until recently, an OCDT at RMAS when I was diagnosed with UC. Eventually I was MD'd which came as a massive blow, considering I'd wanted to join the Army all my life.
I've been told that once you've been diagnosed with UC you can't rejoin. I also know however that 50 % of people who have an attack of UC never get one again. I am now working in a stressful job in the City which has not brought back an attack. I also am planning to cycle Land End to John O Groats in the New year so I am not short of fitness.

Anyone please got some good news to get a fella back on his chosen track???

  2. Come on kids, don't be shy......
  3. Have you spoke to your GP? and/or Army recruitment officer?

Bad luck - not a nice condition to have, but sounds like you are back on track. I was laid low with non-ulcerative dyspepsia some time back which is nowhere near as severe (and caused no issues with the MO).

It may be one of those issues, like laser eye surgery, where the MoD will only catch up with medical thinking after a few years.

Can't give you professional advice but have you considered other uniformed careers, e.g. police, as an alternative? Might give you whatever you're missing in the City, and may have different medical criteria.
