Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. A UK soldier has been killed in a blast while on patrol in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
The soldier was serving with the Brigade Reconnaissance Force, 5 Regiment, Royal Artillery, it added.

Next of kin have been notified. Two other British soldiers were injured in the explosion, north of Sangin.

The death raises the toll of UK forces to 85 since operations began in October 2001, with 59 killed in combat.
