  1. UK marine killed in Afghan clash

A British Royal Marine has been killed and another wounded in a battle with the Taleban in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has said.
British troops attacked a Taleban-held valley but retreated after a 10-hour battle, the UK Helmand Task Force said.

They said the operation aimed to dislodge Taleban forces responsible for attacks on the village of Garmser.

Both marines were airlifted to a hospital in Camp Bastion, but one died from his wounds.

Though nothing can bring back the hour
of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower,
We will grieve not, rather find
    Strength in what remains behind.
