Builds U-Boat type VIIC 1/350th scale PE kit by Jasmine models

an entirely PE kit this, more of a skeleton of a u boat showing an impression of the inside.
packaging.jpg

Here is some of the instruction sheet to go with this
instructions a.jpg

a recognizable piece of u boat on the pe frame
regognisable parts on the frame.jpg

the main hull is built up from a series of bulkhead frames like this one
bulkhead frames.jpg

the first piece to be removed and worked is here, this is folded lengthways to form the entire length of the boat's keel.
first part.jpg

using a pe bending tool in stages to bend the two sides together to form the keel.

Jesus H Sprocket! You DO like a challenge! I shall be following this one with even greater interest. You could do a sunken wreck diorama.....

I was going to post about my first attempt at rust weathering on my ickle Airfix T-boat - but I think I'll wait.

Make your own build thread, then you can have all the thunder you want. As @SPROCKET321 has failed to use the correct measuring device, I need some idea of this U boat's size as it looks minute

If you fancy doing a wreck then this is the U1021 which lies in 50 m off Falmouth. Struck a mine in March 1945 with the loss of all hands.

All will be revealed as progress takes it's course, I will explain that it's not like a detailed scale model as such, though there are some amazing aspects to it, it's more like an artistic interpretation of a U boat, like a really complex metal earth kit, I'm leaving it in brass, for display quality, on a reflective black base in a glass case, as it will be very fragile, I'll share each step and reveal it's size later on in the build.

Loss of all hands? Is it appropriate to be nosing around a war grave, then?

Loss of all hands? Is it appropriate to be nosing around a war grave, then?
As a diver, obviously a lot of the 'interesting' dives around our (and other) coasts are War Graves. They are treated with respect and nothing should be removed from them. The wrecks should not be entered, although now due to wave action and time etc, most have collapsed. Most submarines remain sealed, as the hatches are closed from the inside. No different from visiting a trench site in France or a CWG cemetary. Same eerie feeling.

the very first and smallest of the stern bulkhead frames fitted, it slits neatly into place in a slot in the keel.

placing the frames is easy until it comes to some internal parts.
