Two First Class Stamps

Apparently the Navy is doing it's open to Joe Public thing in Portsmouth at the moment.

The First Sea Lord was interviewed on TV (BBC South Today) about the navy and the high cost of running it and the two new carriers.

His answer was quite succinct. The Navy today costs the taxpayer the equivalent of two first class stamps.

So if that's what the Navy costs the taxpayer, what does the Army and RAF in turn cost?

IMO it's very cheap.

Edited to add: I've just done the sums and must have missed something in his statement. Can anyone cross check?

What he meant to say was "The Chancellor of the Exchequer expects me to run the Navy on the equivalent of the cost of two First Class stamps."

"Per week"
