It is with deep sorrow that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the deaths of two British soldiers in Afghanistan today, Wednesday 5 September 2007.

MOD Announcement
The men were taking part in a routine patrol in Helmand province when their vehicle was hit by an explosion, shortly after 0915 hours today. A third soldier and a civilian interpreter were also injured.

Next of kin have not been informed, and therefore no further details will be released at this stage.

RIP

My thoughts go to your family and friends at this very difficult time.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there, I did not die.
