Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm off on a course for a few months soon and I'm a little bit behind the times technologically.

I'm taking my laptop and I'd like to get some sort of dongle/thingummyjig so that I can watch (and maybe record) TV on my laptop so that I don't have to take a separate telly.

The problem is that I haven't a clue what to go for!

Has anyone got any ideas of anything in particular to go for or avoid?

The laptop is a few months old and running Vista.

    Thanks in anticipation,

  2. pc world has some very good ones.

failing that you could consider a slingbox, u can watch your tv from anywhere in the world(with a high speed connection) and control it also
  3. I have a Tevion usb television card, it's hardware name is AF9015 BDA Device, I use it in conjunction with the bundled ArcSoft TotalMedia. It was a pig to setup up but once installed and working correctly it has given fantastic service. It gives almost the same features as FreeView and can be setup to record as and when necessary, the picture is sharp and very good. I use Vista on an Acer Aspire.

Sorry, I put the wrong device name, now changed to the correct one.
