Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Do 17 port provide tugs and crew for bearthing of RFA ships or are these tasks carried out by tugs from pompey dockyard????Do the army have any tugs???
  2. I had a tug on a north sea ferry once. Does that count ?
  3. We have work boats, which can act as tugs, but they are not man enough to shift the RFA ships that come in. Besides, the RFA ships are generally able to come alongside un aided unless the weather conditions mean they need a little help. The RN ships that come in, such as HMS Daring a few weeks ago, generally use the civvy tugs from Southampton.

The work boats are used for the ammo barges and dumb mexe rafts as well as fire cover.
  4. I had lots of Tugs last time I visited 17 Sport and Pastime, mainly due to the fact all the Women there where "Hoofing!"
