Trump moves to ban bump stocks

Really? Not a high percentage but it appears you do
6. Wyoming (TIE)

Death by firearm per 100,000 population: 16.7
No permit required for a purchase of a firearm.

Trips and falls kill over 3,000 people each year in the UK.
Maybe we should ban stairs and pavements?

My that's a large scarecrow Lord Summerisle

Gun banners live in a strange world, they believe If something is illegal, criminals won’t do it.
They also believe that the plod will be unthinking robots who will do whatever they are told. NY has some Draconian laws, that are not being enforced because gun owners raised the middle finger and said “No”. Colorado banned high cap mags over 15 rounds, and LE said not enforceable and don’t even bother with it. If you can’t get 4 cops to take action against a school shooter in Florida, I don’t think they are going to want to conduct a forced entry against millions of gun owners to seize their property. You would turn law abiding citizens against you in a heart beat, and LE would be up shit creek.

Er no. They realise that it is near impossible to prevent all crime no matter how heavy you come down on it. Just as it is impossible to have zero accidents in the workplace or on a construction site. But we can have stringent training and safety measures that massively reduce the chances of these things happening.

And how does ‘stringent training’ stop a nut going, well nuts.

Helm, that is State law mate and not Federal law. It doesn't matter what State law says, Federal Form 4473 still has to be completed and NCIC background checks done.

You missed out safety measures, which would include a sensible licensing scheme that prevents those with a history of mental illness, for example, from buying one. Stronger requirements for gun and ammunition storage etc, etc.

Applying such measures reduces the ability of said nutter getting hold of the weapons in the first place.

The failure of the police to deal with Hamilton is not the fault of the legislation. It is the fault of the Constabulary in question

Bit like the FBI avd Broward County Police not reacting to multiple warnings this nutter was a real and present danger to society.

Laws don’t protect people if the police don’t use them.

Not disputing that the claim was nobody in Wyoming shoots somebody else
Okay yeah, I understand that. Thing is the "No permit required for a purchase of a firearm" is a little misleading though. That is a State decision and not a Federal one.
