I've been keen on the mods & custom kit that Troopers have made for me and my oppos in the past, and unsurprisingly have passed on their address to other blokes that needed stuff done.

I would also like to point out that I have neither family nor financial connection with the shop, but experience has shown me what works & what is just extra drag.
I've obtained photographs of some of their kit & will post them all in one thread thereby obviating too much wastage of bandwidth.

Let's start with their custom in-one belt order.

Standard belt order - pouches changed according to customer's wishes:
    - Milspec IRR material
    - Roll pin belt
    - Built in Hippo pad
    - Lightweight D-rings
    - 2 x mag pouches for a total of six mags.
    - Five waterbotle/utility poches.
    - Smoke/frag/FFD pouch on the right hand end of the webbing.
    - Multi-tool/folding knife pouch on the left.
    - Fixed female side release clips. (The female side is attached to the pouch itself ensuing one handed operation , rather than sewn to a piece of webbing where it can fall away from the pouch.)

    About £85.-

    Detail of Fixed Female clip.

    Edited to add price.
  2. How many shiny pennies would that set one back?

These fit side on between Utility pouches to ensure litte belt space is used.

    Price to follow.

    Patrol Yoke.

    [IMG]Rear panel detail.
    [IMG]Left & right panels.

The one shown here is the standard 'off the shelf' item comprising rear panel, left panel with 1 x 2 A2 mag and FFD pouches and right panel with zipped box and FFD pouches.
The advantage of 3 panels is that many different configurations are possible without the expense of purchasing a new yoke each time.

    Rear Panel £25.00
    Left Panel £30.00
    Right Panel £30.00

As with the Belt Kits, custom configurations and special orders are no problem.

    (Cue manufacturers copying this kit...)

    Chest Rig.

The main difference between Trooper's chest rig and those of other manufacturers is that as with the belt kits, the ammo and utility pouches are stitched direct to a foam pad giving a more substantial feel and increased comfort without significantly increasing weight or bulk.

3 x 2 A2 mag pouches, 2 utilities with pockets behind and a full size stash
pocket behind the pad, accessed from above the ammo pouchs.

They have also made these with 3 x 3 A2 mag pouches.

  6. Nice review Cutaway! How quick are they with their service, etc?

    Grab Bag.

This was done as a request for a customer but several others asked for them.
It will take 3 single A2 mags on the front and grens, smk or FFDs on the sides.
The main compartment is big enough for an A4 ringbinder and there's an internal divider for maps etc.
It has a 40mm adjustable shoulder strap and 25 mm waist strap with side release buckle.
A version with double mag pouches on the front is also available.
    DPM or US Tricolor desert.

    Current price £49.95

    Grab bag.
Runaway from Grattan's catalogue with Trooper's Grab Bag.

Give the a bell on 01206-511-268 for up to date gen.

Update - they can be contacted by e-mail on:

UPDATE - They now have a website up & running and the senile bugger running the show is slowly getting more & more stock onto it.

If what you're after isn't there, contact them & ask.

Pattern 83 SADF Battlejacket in Milspec DPM.

Their latest product, born out of the Badge of 2 PARAdeciding that it's DPM or nothing.
As with the Patrol Yoke (and the Pattern 83 Battlejacket itself) it comprises of left, right and rear panels, giving greater versatility than most assault vests.

Rear panel design allows for 'Molle' type pouch mounting as well as providing a useful attachment point for the issue bayonet scabbard.
The vest in the photo also has the optional zipped panels fitted to allow PLCE Side Pouch mounting.
Pouch layout is in keeping with the SADF classic, but as with their other products special requirements are no problem.

Cost is still to be finalised but guide prices are as follows:

    Rear Panel: £35.00
    Left Panel: £55.00
    Right Panel: £55.00
    Zip Panels: £15.00

  10. I've used these guys before. They are very good.
Someone needs to kick them until they get themselves online though.
  11. Cutaway are you sure you dont work at Troopers? Not easy to mistake you for anyone else....
  12. What a quality thread have you got any photos of the bergen mods
  13. Looks alot better than the soggy heavy 58pat I had to put up with. Its a shame you guys now have to shell out your own folding to get your mits on it. Kit like this should be on the QMs shelves.

  14. Tell you what I would like to see, a proper day sack that zips onto the side (a la sidepack) of a bergan with compartment. Big enough to house grab kit for when you dump the bergan. Now I know you can do this with the traditional side pack but I would like something more than a slug like single pouch, also with proper straps
  15. Don't SASS make a grab sack that zips onto the issue bergan?

Does anyone have any pictures of the JayJays webbing systems?
