Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  2. I wonder if that's the @6000 posts the Army can't fill/retain at the moment.
  3. Woudnt suprise me......
  4. Smart guy.

  5. Mandarin-speak for the Brown the Letter is in the post lads
  6. vote the one eyed socialist out of power.
  7. And vote for whom? Smug, shiny-faced Etonian or geriatric weakling?
  8. Oooohhh! No War like the Class War eh? You bovine muppet.

No wonder we are in the mess we are with attitudes like that.
  9. And the Beans counters strike again!!!! . Which regiments are going this time ? :?
  10. It's easy, vote SNP if you are in Scotland, Lib Dem in the cities and Tory in the Shires. That should do it. The smug, self-serving tossers in power will be bumped off their gravy train. I don't care what happens next.

It’s all part of Liabour “Gets Defence” initiative.
  12. Its the usual "cull" to say the army is "up to strength".
    No news really......

Maybe but the down side is we lose the resources for those 6000 posts as well as the posts. It may not be a new tactic but we get shafted again.
  14. Without wishing to deny problems, this is a tremendously open statement upon which to build a story:

"So we could see cuts in Army numbers of anything up to 6,000 or further cuts in aircraft numbers"

No change here - the term you'll hear is 'manning balance', as in: "...there are no cuts, the Army is in manning balance..."

What it means is: "...we have 95,000 Soldiers. We should have 100,000 soldiers (or whatever) and so the Treasury only gives us the money for 95,000. we are therefore in balance with what the Treasury give us, hence all is OK"....
