Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can any one enlighten me on how to go about this? i would greatly appreciate any advice

    regards

  2. le or de commission?

  3. You will have to go the DE route (LE is 'old and bold' only), on recommendation via the CofC.

  4. he could be a 37 year old lcpl, wouldn't be offered a de slot

  5. Broadly speaking Sgt and below go DE, SSgt and above go LE. Potential DEs need to be within the age range for Sandhurst and if selected, do the full commissioning course with OCdts who join from civi street.

To qualify for either you need to be recommended as suitable by your Command Officer (this is the simple/short answer).
