Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just a quick one if anybody can advise,

I have been instructed by my chain of command to write a formal letter requesting a transfer, however I am suffering writers block!!!

Anyone got any ideas for what I should include and how?

    Thanks in advance! :)

  2. Name and adress

  3. Army Number

  4. All you need to do is say
    How Do Sir,
I would like to transfer from A_______ to B________ because, I am leaving the area / want to use my civilian trade to better use in a new unit / your unit is a bag of w@nk and I want to go some where they have a clue on running a unit. (Delete as applicable).

    Yours Sincerely

All of the reasons for leaving I have used in the past

  5. Cheers guys,

Will make sure to mention the bag of w@nk bit! ;)

  6. Here's what I wrote

    "Dear Sir/Madman

I am applying for leave to transfer from The London Irish to the HAC. Although I hold you in high regard, many of your officers are inadequate disgusting social climbers who would have two chances of leading full time troops, slim and none.

Consequently, I am going to try to get into a regiment where the troopers are from all walks of life, and have nothing to prove to anyone, up, down, sideways, or in any other direction.

I remain Sir, etc etc, lie lie"

something like that should do the trick :)

    1. I have the honour to request a transfer to 3rd Battalion, Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (Queen's and Royal Hampshires) etc.

    2. Blah, blah, blah (these all left justified)

I have the honour to be,
    Sir,
    Your obedient Servant
