Trans Sahara Marathon

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Has anyone done the 140 mile Trans Sahara Marathon in Morroco ?
It's supposed to be the toughest foot race in the world. I fancy giving it a go as i like abit of long distance angony.

  2. Yep, did the Marathon des Sables in 2001. An incredible experience, one of the best things I've ever done. Memories of the landscapes, the camaraderie in the evenings, plus hearing the cries from the medics' tents as they saw to peoples damaged feet! Besides the obvious heat and sand, it's mentally tough too, like on 'dune day' where you trudge up and down enormous sand dunes for 15 miles.

There are usually quite a few military amongst the competitors, and it's probably easier if you can find 2 other people and enter as a team. The entries fill up very quickly, I doubt you could get a place until the 2009 event.

If you do sign up you get access to a forum where you can talk to current and previous competitors for advice and support.

Anything else I'll be glad to help.
