Training weekends

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. How easy do u guys find it to book weekends away with your own detachment using weapons blank etc through your county ?
  2. It very much depends on how motivated your DC is in doing the RA's etc. If they are motivated to do it, and can sort funds, transport and other logistics out, then its possible to do. However, do consider that the Regs, TA, even Police use the same training areas as us, and finding a time to go and transport are usually the two hardest aspects of it.

  3. sorry i didnt put the question right,i am a dc and getting county do do any thing army is a nightmare,if u wanna do bag packing or d of e then sorted, anything else is a mare.
  4. Motivated..........Viagra could help.
  5. Personally, I find that if I sort all the paperwork in the correct official order, etc. and make sure all the RAs, EASPs, etc are in place, they have very little choice but to run with it.

Picture the scenario at Annual Inspection:
"Lt. Flashman, why haven't you done any Det training days/weekends this year?"
"Because County HQ squashed all our planned days/weekends, look at the paperwork Sir!"
"Hmmmm. I shall have a word with the Brigadier about this."

    Nice thought ain't it?

Probably the biggest challenge is to actually get a Training Area where blank, etc can be used. I find it's best to make a phone call to ATE to check that your chosen spot is available at the time you want it, then follow up with paperwork.
  6. strangely enough thats how our lot work,so i cornerd our county col at my inspection and gave him a few facts,it worked for now,but as ive spoken out it looks like im a marked man.
