Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. hello all,

trying to establish how many people are employed by the MOD?
and how many of these are deployed on ops at present? also what is the total number of bases in the UK and abroad?

    thanks in advance, westy
  2. As an aside, there are two MOD Civil Servents employed for every enlisted member of the Armed Forces. :pissedoff:

(I know, what the fcuk do they do all day?)

    Edited to add:
The relevant numbers are out there, have you looked?
  3. Almost nothing of any real value, although rumour has it backdating ISD's, offsetting overspend in one project by taking underspend in another, using UOR's to show achievement of deliverables already planned but missed and other creative accounting to make targets which dont mean anything look like they are being acheived. Apparently

  5. For a very good reason in a cash strapped organisation; they are much, much cheaper!

  6. Think of all the unnecessary posts such as cleaners waiters and drivers a potential (small) fortune to be saved there
