Tommy Sheridan charged with perjury

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Be careful what you post here - remember the 'sub judice' rule.
  2. He always claimed to be a Socialist, surely that's proof enough?

Edited to add: I've just seen on the news that he was held at Gayfield Police Station.

  3. Four years in Barlinnie's 'Geoffrey Archer Suite' beckons if he's convicted. Plenty of time to write a Mein Kampf type memoir.

I dare say the News of the World will be asking for their 200 grand back too if he gets convicted, plus legal expenses of course.

Does anybody know what the rules are about convicted criminals and/or undischarged bankrupts sitting in the Scottish Parliament? Is it the same as Westminster where, iirc, you can't get elected if you've been inside for a year and a day or if you are bankrupt.

    Edited to add:-

Kiss goodbye to the perma-tan Tommy. There's no sunbeds in the Bar-L

    Edited again to add:-

There's already a lengthy (dare I say prewritten) diatribe on the web site of Tommy's Solidarity Scotland party. Apparently, Tommy's only been charged because the Scottish police, judiciary and prosecutors are controlled by Rupert Murdoch.

Anybody wanting to support Tommy should send contributions to:-

  4. Is'nt AA being investigated for alleged Contempt of Court?
  5. A pure white Tommy - there's a pic for the tabloids :boogie:

I happen to know that there has been a wee girl from that fine paper has been sitting outside his house since last night - sent there, no doubt, by someone with a smile on his face. The cops sitting in the car weren't too impressed to see her ...

Deserves everything coming to him in my view.
  7. I always knew it would come back and bite him on the arse.

    Thank you Lord! :D

  8. The man is getting everything he, and all his colleagues from Wendy (nay Gordon) down, deserve. might buy a Scottish red-top the morrow!
  10. well FUKC him very much, oh the sweet irony, the arch protester and Bayer of blood from money draining politicians, wasting so much of our money protesting his innocence? twice now? when all he is is a sleazy wee weegie Ned ( thats Chav in Jockanese BTW ) with a loud mouth that thought he was Teflon

    Argh. Conflicted! :D

Generally quite dislike him but do appreciate that he, for the most part, stands by his beliefs and principles. Still a Trotskyite gobshite though.

However since I positively despise the NOTW I hope he wins his case.

    I feel unclean.
  12. no sixty no conflict one is scum that spouts a lot of shyte and the other........................erm...........?
  13. He already won his case against the News of the World and was awarded 200 grand in libel damages.

This is a criminal case, basically accusing him of telling lies in court in order to win his NotW claim.

It's exactly the same sort of trial as Geoffrey Archer faced. He was found to have lied about hiring a prostitute when he sued a newspaper. Result - 4 years in jail.
  14. He sure is LINK

This raises the prospect of Tommy having to find new legal representation in the middle of his trial if AA gets disbarred.

That's exactly what happened when he sued NotW. He parted company with his lawyers and had to represent himself for the rest of the case. This is extremely unusual and only happens in exceptional cases, such as your lawyers finding out that you're going to perjure yourself ...... errm.

    Edited to add:-

The truth's coming out. Apparently Rupert Murdoch is a mere pawn. It's all down to Maggie getting her revenge because her ejection from No 10 was all down to Tommy.
