Tigre CSAR in Mali: extraction of downed Gazelle crew

ALAT Gazelle gets shot down during ops in Mali a year ago, and in shades of Ed Macy’s rescue of deceased Marine Ford in Afghanistan, Tigre crew flew in to rescue them. Using TIGREX’ (Tiger Extraction) procedure was developed a few years previously during Afghan ops . It was, however, only designed for two men who are supposed to stand on a side step and wrap their survival strap around the landing gear.

heres the news documentary below.

Wow, that must be terrifying, already injured from being shot down then having to cling on, injured, to the outside of your rescuer, nightmare.

Raven what sort of speed would Tiger be flying at?

"Impressive" is an understatement.

Mind you the Italian Air Cavalry practise this with downed aircrew clinging onto the AW129 Mangusta during exercises in the late 90s.

Go back even further in history with the Israelis as one of their Phantom got shot down in Lebanon and and th crew rescued by hanging onto skids of the Bell AH-1F Tzefa

cheers
