So I win then.

It was never in doubt of course but nevertheless it had to be done.

Win? Your daughter is a pussy puncher, you must have sinned in a previous life.

Sorry to not play the role you want, but I'm sure you can set up a straw man to debate against.
FMOB, there's another insane conclusion !
So not only are you a guilt-ridden ex(?) rabid homophobe, you suffer from paranoid delusions too.

For your family's sake you'd better hope your clamjouster becomes a mental health specialist.

I would be happy to walk through the maths more slowly for you if you need it.

But you make an extraordinary claim there, so how are you going to justify it? What evidence do you have of your claim?

Mine is mathematically probable, and given how we have treated gay people over the years they were never going to admit to it were they? Look at how we treated Alan Turing, for example. He should have been knighted for his work in the war, not stigmatised and hounded to the point where he killed himself.

But I await your evidence to the contrary.
it was the time he lived in. Deal with it. No doubt you are committing a number of pre-crimes now. Drive car? You're going to be up there with Hitler by next century.

No.
You've shown that your feelings of hatred towards homosexuals have been forced to change after your daughter displayed "gallantry of the highest order" by telling you her nature and nurture meant she felt safer clamjousting rather than receiving tubesteak.
Count yourself as a model father.

And a fcuking idiot when it comes to maths.

I am the father of a gay child, who wants to join the armed forces as a doctor. My child will be an F1 in three year and in four could be working in a front line hospital.

Anything else about gays?
Where's that then?

As I have pointed out though, 2% of the population is LGB and therefore 1% of those will be men.

Hence 1% of the 1355 recipients will be gay or bisexual men.

Yes it it an argument based on probability but the whole point is that probability works. If it didn't it wouldn't be used. It does work, even for inconvenient facts.

You don't have any evidence for your position that isn't just your opinion do you?
This is really bad logic and statistical analysis. Ok if we accept that around 2% of the population is gay it would be reasonable to assume that a similar proportion of a similar representative group would also be gay. But to extrapolate that figure to those awarded VCs is wrong. The 1355 recipients of the VC are not a similar representative group, they are by definition an extraordinary group therefore it is not possible to apply the same factors to it.

That is not to say though that there may have been some gay men amongst the recipients of the VC, just not to a similar degree as a national average which is based on a modern norm and not necessarily true of norms at the time and over a long period of time. It is also really simplistic to split the sample in half and say that applies to the historical trends particularly given that women currently outnumber men but that was not always the case.

Jimmy Edwards D.F.C. was a pooftah, all of his RAF mates knew , they didnt worry ( I used to work for a few of them) he was also a very fine man an exceptional pilot and put other peoples lives before his. he was also a member of the guinea pig club, but they still took the piss out of him

Quite, but if you're an "ex"-homophobe with raging internal anger problems fighting against the new found need to be seen as having the correct political view and one of the team players, it's obviously difficult to take a step back and assess the situation prior writing a logical and considered post, rather than immediately leaping into a perceived fray and belting out the ever popular computer keyboard anthem of, "We're all victims and it's all your fault !"

This thread was pretty 'RAF' when it started, I'm astonished to discover that it's become camper than Dale Wintons wake being held in a field full of rainbow tents

My dear sir, my army service finished in 1981, since then I have travelled all over Europe, including the former eastern block countries, and in a few months will be spending some time in the Americas, staying with some of the Doris's relatives in the mid west, that's this year, next year we hope to go to the middle east, wars and the foriegn office prevailing. During my time in the mob, I had travelled, and worked in Norway 4 times, Austria once, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxemburg, with 4 tours in southern Bavaria and Sardinia once, more that enough for my brief stay of 9 years in uniform, and 2 postings in BAOR.
Snow Queen isn't really a tour.

Sad that the Army couldn’t simply add Signalwoman as a rank.
Sometimes I wasn't that sure of the gender of DTGs, luckily for most of my time in they still wore the WRAC cap badge which helped, I can't see that having worked.
