Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Tomorrow and Sunday, that nice Mr.Lidl is knocking out bags of mussels in garlic or wine sauce for half price at 99p.

A great way to do them is start off a pan of pasta for 2, then gently fry 6 finely chopped spring onions and a clove of garlic in a little olive oil till soft, add a couple of fine chopped tomatoes and a glass of white wine, a little freeze dried parsley, boil up until thick.

By then the pasta should be cooked, drain, then add the mussels to the tomato mix, cook for about 4 minutes, then serve on the pasta.

If you think the mussels won't be enough throw in a handful of defrosted prawns to simmer in the mix at the same time as the mussels...... Boun appetito.

They last over a week in the fridge, but at that price I'll throw a fewbags in the freezer.

Don't forget the fresh, crusty bread to soak up all that flavoursome juice.
  3. I like mussels but for me, fresh is best.

Vac packed in wine or garlic sauce never taste as good as the real thing.

  4. Chuck in some chopped celery as well for that echt Belgian taste.
