So, we were talking in the office at work and someone said you could find escorts on LinkedIn. Apparently escorting companies advertise jobs there. This allows businessmen away overnight (or more) on business trips to look up escorting firms on work laptops, while their search history just shows LinkedIn.

And - lo and behold - it was true. I give you:

A friend of a friend is a music journalist in America, and gets to put adult entertainment through the books as legitimate expenses as he easily genuinely taking people there as client entertainment and a relaxed place to do interviews

I don't think he's ever booked anyone escorts though, thought that would be more likely in Germany than the UK

A bit surprised at that one

They could of course search on their private phone or laptop with no history coming up on the work laptop

But what is your case. Escort agencies are business's and use the internet.
If they pay their taxes where is the problem?

I guess under industry being classified as construction makes sense as dealing with wood is their primary source of income......

I've applied for the job

I was astonished to find another 'reputable' organisation that should be done under trade descriptions...a well known 'airline' masquerading as a military force. The RAF.

Badooom tish!! Taxi!!

You mean like Oxfam and other NGO's soliciting favours from locals...

My bold .. When I was a purchasing manager I used to be "entertained" quite a lot. It normally consisted of being taken out for good meals in good restaurants with often superb wines. ( It gave me a taste for good Burgundies which on my pension I can no longer afford as I mentioned on another thread).
One day I was attending a trade fair in Harrogate and was invited to dinner with one of the exhibitors. I turned up at the restaurant along with a couple of other buyers to be met by the exhibitor along with several attractive young women who had been on his stand at the show. We all sat down to the meal, I next to what I thought was an very attractive woman who had been helping demonstrate the companies products on the stand during the day.
To cut a long story short, we clicked and she finished the night coming back to my hotel room. The next day just before close of play at the show, I went back to see if I could persuade her to have dinner with me alone that night only be told that she had to "entertain" another client that night. Turns out the female "stand "assistants" were all paid escorts!
Bugger and there was me thinking I was irresistible to birds :-(.

A retired army mate used to own half a dozen video shops in Germany. He used to have a reasonable offering of porn available for rent along with the more family orientated films.

Every year the big German porn production company he used to buy his stock from used to host a customer loyalty event. They used to rent a 5 Star brothel in Duesseldorf for the night - like a top end old fashioned English gentleman’s club, but instead of dusty old butlers it was staffed by nubile wenches. The production company just rented the place for the entire night and all food, drink and entertainment was gratis for the guests - legitimate business expense in Germany.

My bold .. Hmm.. I think I was invited to a similar establishment after a trade fair in Frankfurt one year. Being the Gentleman I am, I made my apologies and left of course ;-)

About 10 years ago I was peddling my wares at the NEC at a 3 day trade show. The afternoon of the middle day two young ladies came on the stand. They weren't interested in what we were flogging, they were handing out invites to an evening's entertainment at a gentleman's club somewhere in Birmingham. If it hadn't been Birmingham I might have taken them up on the offer.

Still goes on there. As others have said, it’s a business like any other.

Having worked on the stand all day would their nocturnal duties count as overtime?

Oooh, having worked in Russia on and off since the 90's, I've got hundreds of salacious "business" stories.

However, back on Wordsmiths original theme of "reputable" companies:

A leading western IT company invited a hundred or so of Russian & expat clients to a long weekend "conference" at a beach hotel in Cyprus. The company had apparently "gone native" or, in this case "full Russian", as the invitations were made out to "Mr x, plus secretary.".

My word, you should have seen the secretaries...

Clearly there had been a terrible mix-up by the hotel, as every boss+secretary was booked into double rooms, rather than two singles. Mind you, the only people apparently inconvenienced were the prudish expats, who'd arrived sans secretary due to marriage/career considerations.

The host company may or may not have been one of IBM, Dell, Cisco, HP... I suspect that the country manager may not have been entirely forthcoming to corporate HQ back in bible-belt USA.

p.s. Anyone familiar with large scale corporate entertainment expenses in Moscow will probably be familiar with the AMEX/VISA tag "Sever Restaurant". (Cough) Anyone here recognise the secret code?
