Theresa May about to Resign?

I’ll buck the trend.

I don’t see it, even now, as a poison chalice.

It was the opportunity of a lifetime for a PM to go down in the history books alongside the greats.

It was always going to be incredibly difficult and challenging, of course. But with a clear vision and some backbone it could have been delivered to both parties satisfaction.

We’re here now because an avid Remainer was in charge of a Remain heavy Parliament who had every intention of not delivering, but even worse of sabotaging the UKs position.

The concept of Brexit is still a good one, the delivery has been a deliberate shambles.
Oh she’s gone down in history all right. Alas NOT amongst the greats, personally I wish for a remake of that film Flushed Away, so much comedy content to pick from in the mother of all parliaments.

Watching Japanese TV last night there was report on what is happening in the UK and what we can expect from a no-deal and even the news anchors who, according to my wife were being super-factual about the whole thing, were predicting carnage.

My sensible head says that, whatever happens, it will be neither as good as the leavers suggest nor as bad as the remainers want us to think. I am pretty sure, though, that the UK is going to be very uncomfortable for some time to come.
it is fascinating watching what others think of us.

I was recently on some specialist media Arabic vocabulary lessons, and my tutor set me an interesting task to explain Brexit to him.

It all ground to a halt rather quickly, and he offered to help with the vocabularly.

I politely explained, it wasn't the vocabularly - it was just I couldn't explain how we got into this pickle and what would happen next.

He kept asking me what the plan was? Surely the sides had a plan? I had to say, if there is one; I don't think events are unfolding according to it.

Far easier to just chuckle about Abdelaziz Bouteflika in Algeria clinging like Davros to power.... Business as normal really. I can deal with that.

Having met him both professionally and personally, and given the fact that I am a dyed in the wool Tory, I absolutely agree with you.
I haven't met a politician since Ian Gow who didn't fit that description, I like Boris, he certainly wasn't a bad mayor and doesn't often get the chance to do his best!

Can I point out I am not this man, and posted my comment before the tweet!

May be a reference to the voice, I don't think Bouteflika has been heard to speak in public for a decade.

Having seen the inside of both his car and his house (both absolutely filthy - you wouldn't have wanted to have anything out of his kitchen) I do wonder just what sort of person he is.

OK, so Parliament has ruled out no deal. As far as I can see PMTM has now lost control of the entire process. I'm afraid that the only thing left for her to do is to resign. Preferably before we all go to bed tonight, but I'm prepared to wait until the morning.

I get that it's non binding, but she simply has no credibility left. She cannot even whip her own party.

October 2017. I think that's when Arrsers started predicting "she'll be gone by Saturday".
Just like the Energizer bunny, she's still going.
I do agree it's about time she went (and did agree some time ago) but anyone who puts themselves up for the leadership of the party (and PM) at this moment in time should be barred from ever seeking high office again.

Parliament may have ruled out no deal, but the EU has the final say.

Which is why we need to leave.

She must be in the running for one of the top 5 worst PMs ever.

This is all part of the well choreographed plan.

I have zero faith that the establishment ever intended on carrying out the will of the people. Instead we are left with "events" that lead to the preferred conclusion under the guise of ' no other option'.

He is my number one at the moment, but, TM is a contender for top spot.
She’s the second worse Tory PM behind Cameron who thanks to his actions played a bloody big part in placing May in number 10.
For me it’s
1. Cameron.
2. May
3. Heath. Ted only made 3rd because most of the time he fecked off on his boat where he couldn’t do any more damage.
Overall
Blair
Brown then above tories followed by Callaghan.

My god Maggie must be spinning by now, in fact I blame Maggie for these high winds we are getting.

...To be honest, I really believe that she has reduced the country to a laughing stock in the EU. They have played her like a five year old looking for some cookies!
Could you have done better?

I am not happy with what she has achieved. I am prepared to believe that she has tried her utmost in a very difficult set of circumstances to do what she could in her position. And for that alone I do respect her.

To be honest I don’t think you would be capable of doing much of what she has already achieved and done.

With the country as divide as it was, and the slim majority that the leave vote won, it was going to be a very hard job to leave the EU for any leader to pull off and the shadow PM couldn’t pull the skin of a rice pudding. It was very definitely a poisoned chalice.

We voted out by a democratic poll, we declare we are a democracy, lets just get on with it.
