Morning ladies and gents, I’ve currently decided to bite the bullet and finally apply before I get any older. (Currently 26) and after doing my research the most enticing role I’ve looked into is a CMT. I was curious however, if anyone has any information regarding phase 2.
The information provided on the website is very limited and I have tried to have a look through previous posts but I was unable to find any information. Also I imagine that a CMT is a popular role and was curious if anyone had any information regarding recruitment waiting times to be allocated spaces for an intake.

Try looking on army medical services instagram page. They have insights on everything medical related. I was told by AFCO that the list is year and half wait and they only do 2 intakes a year.

Cheers mate I had a good
Look through and found plenty! Wasn’t aware the army was going on Instagram!

Blimey that is a wait haha, are there ways to increase chances of getting a faster placement? Do your selection scores dictate where you go on the list?

Yeah they are big on Instagram. All the corps have their own page too. Not just the army medical services.

I honestly doubt it, you could get a higher grade at selection but that’s when the waiting 18 months happens. You’ll see on some posts on here people have waited couple months then said they want their second job choice and gotten in quicker.

Hi All,

I am currently in the joining process and looking at roles that blend plenty of combat with a technical side as well. Comm Sys Op has been mentioned as something to look at but there is limited information online about how these operate.

From what I understand, Com Sys Ops are attached to regular and armoured infantry units to provide comms support, but how much combat will they actually see? Is it a case of the infantry go first and they bring up the rear? Or do they genuinely get stuck in?

I know there is scope to do the Special forces communicator course and attach to various special forces units, but the same question applies. Do the members of 18 Sig have the opportunity to get stuck in with the lads? Or is it more of a supporting role?

If anyone else has any other suggestions about roles I should take a look at then I would really appreciate hearing from them as well.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at this thread.
Cheers
Comms Sys Op won’t exist shortly and we’re all getting a new main trade for pay name. 18Sigs is massive and very busy all the time. You don’t have to be in 18Sigs to attempt SFC selection and I don’t think they are bothered about what trade you are going in, you need to pass a trade course as part of the selection. As for getting stuck in with the lads you’ll have to ask someone who has been “in with the lads”.

Looking to join the AAC Groundcrew Specialist. Anyone else hoping to join AAC or have any info about the job other than the limited information on the Army Website? cheers

Hello, basically I’m on the fence as which direction to go in. I failed AOSB last year but the careers adviser said I could go into soldier roles with no further assessment. I decided to have a think and as I’m very keen on outdoors, and phys etc I thought RM might be a good alternative. I really can’t decide which way to go, I’m 27 soon I’ll be starting a family with my girlfriend, and I’m very keen to get stuck into the linguistics, plus the pay from the int corps seems pretty decent. However I can’t shake the feeling I’ll be dissatisfied with a career where I can’t get out and about and have some physical challenges to smash. It’s a real conundrum. I just wondered if anyone has experience in these areas maybe could help lend some insight into really what the potential for some good physical roles or challenges in the intelligence corps? as if there is a good chance to have a go at something like that I’d rather move ahead with army application than restarting a new marines application.
thanks a lot.

Hi I apologise if this has already been answered, but I couldn’t find the information I needed, I’m waiting for assessment and I’m interested in joining the engineers as a armoured engineer, do they do a basic security check on this role or is it more advanced?

Thank you

Would doing the AACC in the RA mean you would be in 29 commando your whole career or would you get posted to other regiments throughout your career?

I am physically very able so I am extremely interested in doing the AACC after phase 2, 29 Commando doesn't seem to be bullshitty (please correct me if I am wrong). I also want to be around people who will get pissed and do dumb shit with me, are the lads in 29 and the greater Royal Artillery those types?
