The UK/European migrant problem

I fail to see your point. Especially when traffickers are selling fake brands at premium prices, and other dangerous lifejackets have been found and seized in Turkey. Do you claim no links to the trafficking trade?
Those seized on Turkey were typically of Chinese origin, as were the boats - produced truely industrial quantities. Traffickers make money where they can: drugs, CSE, counterfeit goods, bond slavery, car washes... you name it. People smuggling is particularly lucrative at the moment. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that the irregular migrants are referred to as self loading freight (a quip stolen from the airlines).

Yeah? Wouldn't be surprised if the victim and her family were desperately pro incomers and considered themselves wonderfully enlightened and right on, special kudos gained for having one hanging about with them.
Its tragic the bastard murdered her but these people need to understand pretending a wolf is a labrador will only end one way.

Newsnight report from Malmo re immigration and crime. Mentioned "narrative" countless (far too many) times. The issues reported by Trump were apparently the result of watching Fox News and the reporter said something along the lines of "beware what you believe from watching tv" - this was a tv report which seemed a tad ironic, so I don't know whether to believe it or not.

Reporter said they often go looking for a narrative. A narrative can be a story or report of events wither real or imaginary... I frequently associate the term "narrative" with political agenda these days.

A Malmo policeman seemed to say that crimes such as shooting are committed by second or third generation, ie they are now Swedes... not immigrants and it usually involves drugs. It's not a utopia but stories of rises in crime are misreported and taken out of context or at least that was the inference I gathered from the report. I could be wrong in that, as being bombarded with "narrative" and "story" was distracting.

One bloke who lives further north supports the Swedish Democrats policy keeping Sweden closer to what it was. He said things are pretty good but social care isn't what it should be, particular for older people. It is pointed out that the Swedish Democrats have far right neo-Nazi origins. That appears to be true but Is a narrative being created by making rhetorical association with Donald T and "a British Politician"?

The more the reporter spoke of narratives and of not trusting television, the more he placed doubt on his own report or at least that was one possible interpretation. What seems true from the report is that previously in Sweden, raising the possibility that some immigrants (from countries where customs are very different) are causing troubles was taboo, now it seems less so.

Meanwhile BBC News website reported "About 58% of men convicted in Sweden of rape and attempted rape over the past five years were born abroad, according to data from Swedish national TV."

The Mission Investigation programme, due to be broadcast on Wednesday by SVT, said the total number of offenders over five years was 843. Of those, 197 were from the Middle East and North Africa, with 45 coming from Afghanistan.

"We are very clear in the programme that it is a small percentage of the people coming from abroad who are convicted of rape," chief editor Ulf Johansson told the BBC.

He pointed out that the number of reported rapes in Sweden was far higher, so no conclusions could be drawn on the role of immigrants in sexual attacks.

'Most convicted rapists in Sweden foreign'

It's a complex situation and open to misinterpretation and representation by attempting to oversimplify the statistics one way or the other.

Hungary 'denying food to asylum seekers', say rights groups
By Alice Tidey & Noemi MraV, euronews, last updated: 22/08/2018

. . . . Hungarian authorities have stopped distributing food to rejected asylum seekers held in transit zones at the border with Serbia since early August, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Wednesday.
According to the rights group, two Afghan families and a pair of Syrian brothers were among those who were denied food after their asylum applications were rejected under a new admissibility procedure.
Hungary's Immigration and Asylum Office, in a statement to Euronews, has denied any wrongdoing.

'New inhumane low'
A woman breastfeeding and children in the Afghan families were given food, but their legal representatives told HRW that they had been explicitly told not to share it with other family members.
“The government has stooped to a new inhumane low by refusing food to people in their custody, apparently revelling in breaching human rights law, including its obligations as a European Union member," Lydia Gall, Eastern EU and Balkans researcher at Human Rights Watch, said in a statement.
“This disregard for people’s wellbeing smacks of a cynical move to force people to give up their asylum claims and leave Hungary,” Gall added.

Meanwhile more from Italy

Rome, August 23 - Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said Thursday all 150 migrants on board the coast guard ship Diciotti were illegals and that he answered to the Italian people as he pursued an Australian-style immigration policy.
"My objective is the Australian No Way (policy)," he said.
"They are all illegal immigrants on the Diciotti." "Italy is no longer Europe's refugee camp".

Diciotti migrants illegal, I answer to Italians says Salvini - English

Not the same ship but you be the judge, illegal immigrants or genuine refuges?

Maybe the women and children were within the ship and out of view but asides from a very small number in the photos, the vast majority are males. Not many men over thirty by the look of it either. It just seem unusually imbalanced. I wonder what the actual statistics are?

There's also zero doubt that a not insignificant number are either directly opposed to Western values or inclined that way, with a subset being actively keen on violently opposing the way of life in the countries saddled with them.
Relevant bit is at 5:50, but the whole thing's worth a watch.

Okay - fair enough, and yes, there was always lots of money to be made. Yet we know it wasn't only traffickers or the Chinese turning a profit.

It's a safe bet that fake LJ's were made and sold in İZMİR (Aegean coast, Turkey). For those who didn't know, it was all over the news, and photographed; BBC and international outlets (including Hurriyet) were reporting at the time. Not likely to be BS: "underground Turkish workshops employed Syrian minors".

Izmir factories were turning out cheap, useless LJ's and rubber rafts for the hourlong crossing to Greece.

Since Izmir is a major hub for migrants heading to the EU, some would expect the black market economy to take advantage of the crisis, and the refugees. It's been called "a multimillion-dollar shadow economy"; Izmir has been a refugee (and smuggling) hub for many years, with an extensive local smuggling infrastructure and raft economy. Local shops have also done well out of it all.

Not saying that the Turk authorities approve, at all; they have nicked traffickers, undocumented migrants and terror suspects, recently.

Turkey: Police arrest 61 suspects for human-smuggling.

Turkey hosts more than 3.1 million registered refugees of whom only approximately 275,000 are residing in formal camps.

In other news, AIUI and predictably, Italy's "far-right Deputy PM" Salvini is to be visited by Italian prosecutors. 150 migrants refugees - Eritreans, Somalis, Syrians and Sudanese - have gone on hunger strike after being told to sod off at Sicily. Migrants 'go on hunger strike' as Italian government refuses to accept them.

Cheers.
