With some exceptions no doubt

Well I suppose the Royal Corps of virtuesignallers can write off any chance that conflict will bring out the latent Hairy or Fairy as they used to be called.

The Taxman should be all over then like a rash. Cash in hand businesses feed into the Tax Gap (the difference between the estimated tax that should be collected and the actual tax collected).
The Tax Gap is about 5-7% of potential tax collection which is a huge about of money.

We need more tax collectors, more police and the will to collect tax and prosecute tax evasion.

You're saying we should raise taxes to pay for more tax collectors to collect taxes from people who already pay tax?

Because going after and prosecuting tax evaders is such hard work that the existing tax collectors simply go after Joe Schlub for a £5 error on his self-assessment.

I can see you've thought this through.

It really depends on how and when? There is a balance to be struck between evasion and acceptable loss that has always been there defined by the Government getting a nett increase over all on a year by year basis. Part of cumulative gap is in fact the interest on money they never got. But the inadequacy will be the fact that if Joe Schlubb made a five pound error, they WOULD go after him because they can. That’s a whole hill of beans different to having to detect it and collect it. PAYE is by far the cheapest part of the process.

Yet the answer appears to be "don't bother, too difficult".

We've all heard tell of the petty-minded vindictiveness of HMRC when they've got some ordinary taxpayer pinned against a wall of bureaucracy, yet we hear of little to no action over the crims who piss on HMRS's back and tell them "Just rain, boss - no spik eengleesh pliz.", and if by some miracle, a nail bar closes, it's back as a barbers the following week.

We don't need to spunk more taxpayer's money up the wall, rather we should expectdemand that those whose job it is to enforce the law do so without fear, favour or let-up.

Never mind lessons learned. Some P45's need to be handed out for these blindingly obvious abuses of our tolerance. Whoever allowed these men to start school need to spend the remainder of their working lives performing menial tasks, for minimum wage, on zero-hours contract, during anti-social hours.

Then you need some to do it, because at this point in time, thanks to the Blair regime we are limited to the honesty of traders and formulaic declarations and the button pushers. People like me were got shot of or repurposed. HMRC is IR writ large and they have always been somewhat different in mentality. And we all know the fear or favour issue largely tamped down by institutionalised don't look now cronyism that makes a mockery of Apoliticism. And yep, you will have to pay them a living wage and that's going to come from the public purse. But then we're having to pay for the expanded NHS too. So perhaps the simple answer is 100% tax and all free on the state no bills to pay- how very Marxist of me.

There is of course a paradox in all this. When Blair got rid of us we cost the tax payer something like 1.75p in the pound. Now having to replace all that infrastructure is gonna cost Billions, and guess who's not going to get a slice of the action?

Cash in hand does not automatically mean £5 errors.

Should we just turn a blind eye to this, it's only a fiver, lots and lots of fivers?

I wonder if there are people in sub-saharan africa that look like they are from Cheshire?

It's odd, not really, but a lot of these places are cash-only if you order over the counter but have a thriving online delivery service. Local authoritiea should get off their knees and physically get in there and see the scam that a lot of these places are.

Just the kind we used find on a Singapore or Vietnam trip, taking the money out to gamble. If they won , win win and they can’t resist gambling. Lose of course and either the snakeheads or the Tongs have an in for their nefarious economies. After remission out in 15 months and you don’t have to be a director for sole trader. No she’ll still be running her rackets. Unfortunately being of Chinese extraction, we can’t deport.

Over a year ago Macron sent the then French PM, Castex on a tour of north Africa countries.
It was in response to a gathering cloud in that area over the possible collapse of their economies, Tunisia having just ponced over $4 billion from the IMF back then.
France also reduced visas from Morocco by 50%, and it was openly admitted then that it was giving their government sleepless nights should it go Pete Tong.
With 2,000 kms of Med coastline it should.
Economically it hasn't improved since in that region, but never fear, some clever people have a plan.

Just 33 million new jobs then, piece of p1ss

When you consider the rate of breeding, hence massive numbers increase in their populations, its no surprise. Most of Western Europes populations (without incomers) had stabilised or even started to decrease a little in the '70's, it's the third world that is breeding us into extinction..
Just look at this from wiki, then take C. & S. America and most of Asia and you see the same horrifying type of statistics.

Demographics of Africa - Wikipedia
snip .. "The population of Africa was 177 million in 1950, and it grew 7.6 times to more than 1.341 billion in 2020!
The increase in population is explosive, with a population under the age of 14 in the exponential growth phase, !

It's a shame these bleeding heart do gooders don't do a bit of research and then urge the third world to stop breeding!
Unless we have some catastrophic disaster in those areas which culls these numbers, our world as we knew it, is finished.!!

Can't imagine where these Scousers got this idea from to go to France

Hope they did't buy it, there's loads/hundreds/thousands of "only used once" ribs lying around Dover!

Aparently Ni left China in 2006 and obviously did not learn English because the proceedings in court were translated for Ni and her husband in the dock by a Mandarin interpreter. Hopefully she paid for the interpreter herself.
