Christ on a bike. How far into the Channel do they think they'll get with that? It's got a freeboard of inches and the average wave height in the Channel is a couple of metres. They won't be able to see f*ck all.

It’s a bit ‘twee’ nest pas?

But fear nought, despite the lack of money, equipment, or a clue, they are going to defend Engerland!

France says UK CAN'T turn around migrant dinghies as 2,000 would-be refugees gather on far side of the Channel preparing to make the deadly crossing

The French are regarding it as a heaven sent opportunity to clear out all the illegals in France and get millions in wonga for doing it.

And, your point is? Both countries have been in conflict since the late 70’s, with a lot of interference from the west.
My point is that we liberate them from the oppressive regimes they are whining about, then they still come crying that they want asylum and its all our fault. Afghanistan had from 1989 to 2001 when there was no foreign interference. It is all there own work that they are in a state. Billions have gone into development, all either stolen or gone down the pan.

There was no foreign interference in Iraqi before 2003. Saddam being a local boy was all their own work. An oil rich country with an educated population have thrown it all down the drain due to their petty tribalism.

We don't owe a moral duty to give any of them asylum.

Does SOLAS say that we should have permant patrols in the channel to assist any dingy people, just in case they may get into difficulty or are you spouting b*llocks as usual.
Ffs just ignore him. He’s just trolling.
See his comments on Africa Zim thread that are diametrically opposed to his spouting on here.
His dear departed former neighbour must be turning in his grave.

And yet, before we decided to bring ‘democracy’ to their counties, we didn't have oodles of refugees from the MENA and Near East.

sigh…… those pesky treaties we’ve signed up to.

Search-and-rescue (SAR) services throughout the world largely depend on international shipping to assist anyone in distress at sea.
Nowadays, distress signals can be rapidly transmitted by satellite and terrestrial communication techniques both to search-and-rescue authorities ashore, and to ships in the immediate vicinity. The rescue operation can be swift and coordinated.
Nonetheless, rescue and disembarkation to a place of safety are complex operations involving a range of actors, each of which has particular obligations under international maritime law, as well as other bodies of international law such as refugee and human rights law.
Even when the rescue has been accomplished, problems can arise in securing the agreement of States to the disembarkation of migrants and refugees. Recognizing this problem, member States of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) adopted amendments to two
of the relevant maritime conventions in 2004.1 Just as Masters have an obligation to render assistance, Member States have a complementary obligation to coordinate and cooperate so that persons rescued at sea are disembarked in a place of safety as soon as possible’.

Well, define ‘Brutal dictators’?
If you listen to the average Islingtonista, Thatcher was a brutal dictator.

No foreign interference prior to 2003? You can't be that naive? We destroyed the infrastructure, then lost the peace after the war, in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now that troops are withdrawing I would expect refugees too crease as they flee, the Taliban especially those that worked alongside ISAF, after all who wants to be beaded?

The western world has a moral obligation to have fixed what we in essence created small we for the UK and he majority of NATO, big WE America, Russia, China.

We don't have "oodles of refugees from MENA and Near East" Now

What we do have is illegal migrants making crossings from the safety of Europe.

Not one refugee will have arrived in Dover or the Kentish coastline plenty of illegal migrants though
