The Trump Presidency...

Does an 'extraordinary relationship' Trump a special one? I guess we'll find out soon.

'Before the two leaders went into a first session between just themselves and their interpreters, Trump said the summit would cover "everything from trade to military to missiles to nuclear to China".

' "Frankly, we have not been getting along for the last number of years. And I really think the world wants to see us get along. We are the two great nuclear powers," he said. "I've not been here too long (as president), it's getting close to two years, but we'll be having an extraordinary relationship, I hope so." '

Trump vows 'extraordinary relationship' with Putin as summit opens
Could it possibly be that he's finally said something that's neither a great big whopper nor a great big exaggeration?

It would certainly be extraordinary for a US President to be taking his orders from the Kremlin.

So you admit there's no need for a wall of any kind to keep those nasty dusky-skinned people out. Good of you to say so.
The wall is a symbol really. It will help keep a few out. But the best way to reduce the flow of illegals and reduce the numbers in country is to hire more Border Patrol Agents, ICE officers, and Immigration Judges. Then reduce the time it takes to deport them.

Its still possible. Wasn't there the 'US is only a few days tank drive from central America' scare during the 80s?
I suspect kit maintennance is not high on the agenda of such adversaries.

You can always rely on them breaking down?

Trump tends to think in economic terms. Aka what kind of trade inbalence the US has, vs services provided in return.

Like Germany, we have a trade deficit with them, and they don’t spend much on defense leaving more of a burden on the US. So they are bad.

The Russians, we don’t trade with them and we only spend our money planning to kill them. So not bad.

It really is all things financial with him.

In the early days of NATO the US took the economic loss in rebuilding Europe bec at the time it was in our best interests to do so.
Now that Western Europe is thriving people don’t understand they don’t want to meet the 2 percent commitment. They are starting to question the realtionship with Europe.

In the Democratic world Donald Chump is ignoring the fact that diplomacy is also a requirement of being a leader. He constantly ignores advice from his own staff, his own congress, and polls that actually do show that the majority of Americans do not agree with many of his policies. He also seems to be ignorant of the fact that the EU and China have overtaken the US and are economically larger than the USA, Militarily aside the USA is not the powerhouse it once was. Bullying tactics may have worked (sometimes, 4 bankruptcies may suggest otherwise ) for the orange chump in his business world but it tends to create the opposite effect in the real world.

Problem #2

BS. The USA did not take the economic loss of rebuilding Europe, no one asked them too, assisting in certain areas was provided only when it was in their interest to do so, the cost of re-building Europe was left to the EU countries alone. Of course the USA provided much of the defense they were as much afraid of the Russians as we were.

Problem #3
Now that Western Europe is thriving people don’t understand they don’t want to meet the 2 percent commitment. They are starting to question the relationship with Europe.
Donald Chump is creating discord between the EU and creating discord between the American people and Europe, a bit of diplomacy would have achieved the same thing without the discord.
He is making Europe the enemy, but wants to make Russia a friend... really, where would he get that idea from ??

So there's no need for it and it's a waste of money. Informative. The Donald will be booking you a place in a re-education camp shortly for daring to disagree with him, thin-skinned, boorish, uncultured, little-handed dictator that he is.

Another way to dissuade those nasty immigrants would be to make the US a wholly undesirable destination. Given yer man's record of multiple bankruptcies, perhaps he'll do just that.

Perks of living in Wyoming, most people in my own country don't know where the feck this place is. No need to send me off to a camp, I have self interned here.

The EU is also a squabbling block of countries that don't always play well together. If a few countries can be picked off then the whole block gets weaker. I have no idea what the total EU GDP is.

The world's biggest economies in 2018

According to that we are still # 1.

#2 The Marshall plan was created to make sure the same mistakes that led to WW2 were not created. The UK and France cocked up the post WW1 peace by gouging the Germans. In essence the seeds of WW2 were planted in the ashes and a generation later look what happened? I think we were determined to not let that happen again.
Yes the Russians are bad, and not disagreeing with you on that.

#3 Obama tried to play nice and encourage Europe to up their game. Did not happen. Trump is an asshole, but that is why people voted for him. To tell the world how it is. So if Europe chips in more money, that is still a win. They may hate Trump and the American people to a lesser extent but it is for their own good. Besides anybody with half a brain knows that the political pendulum is always swinging in the US, and one day we will kiss and make up. But that is not today.

Currently watching the live Trump-Putin media conference via Aljazeera.

Trump’s speech is fairly well written, still ongoing and time will tell if further improvements , political or otherwise are a result.

Overall, appears usual diplomatic, constructive and positive.

A masterly press conference from Putin, with a long and detailed report. The orange one can't possibly match it. Indeed, he's stood there looking bored. Ah, he's reading a prepared speech, obviously someone realises letting him speak on the fly will be an embarassment.

The election meddling - Putin feel strongly about it. Nothing more than that. Well, that's all sorted out then.

And now we move onto the press questions. This should be interesting. Aaaand he's talking off the cuff, utter gibberish, as usual, oh dear...

If you are a intelligence specialist in the US how shit must you feel today. Your President has just thrown you all under the bus and now believes a ex-KGB officer who murders those that disagree with him over his own people.

That press conference was the surrender of the US to Russia and showed the lack of moral fibre and any sense of intelligence by Trump.

I can hear the corks popping in Putins party now.

I used to think that there would be some kind of plan, that wrecking the world order was for a cause. Now, no I think Trump is out of his depth and he can only fall back on Hillary bad Russian good.

You know you "made it" when the Russians retweet in agreement. Says everything.

So Trump was asked if he believed US Int or Putin's denials

I blame Obama. Or Hillary. Seems the right choice.

What is it with the Russians always offering to "help" investigations of crimes they are suspected of committing from the inside?

You might think it was volunteering to pervert the course of justice or some such.
