The Trump Presidency...

Does anyone have an idea just how much of a 'shit-ton' of money they're actually getting? I mean, millions for each congressman? And I'm currently hearing that some 66% of polled voters are keen to move forward with more restrictive gun control laws of some sort.

Time for a Wizard of Oz moment, and pull the curtain aside to reveal the wizened reptile blinking in terror.
The NY Times came out with the top 100 congressmen who take contributions. Another paper listed 276 "lawmakers" who take them. Among the top recipients were Senator John McCain over $7.75 million, Richard Burr $6.9 million, Roy Blunt $4.5 million and Marco Rubio with $3.3 million.
CNN list a whole shed load of Florida reps who took a few thousand a year.
We ain't talkin' chicken-feed here.

Meanwhile in the Pennsylvania bellwether.

It''s just three weeks out now. It's still neck and neck.

This is a contest that both sides, entering the mid terms in November, desperately need to win.

Democrat candidate Lamb has now come out strongly against gun control. If this issue is a legitimate political contest with votes involved; why would he do that at this tragic time?

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that Conor Lamb hasn't received a single cent contributed to his campaign by the NRA.

Why then is he running the same line as the 'bogeyman' NRA?

I'd suggest that more cynical "Whatever it takes" politics are in play.

Conor Lamb's platform is a bunch of motherhood statements:

TAKING IMMEDIATE ACTION TO FIGHT THE HEROIN CRISIS

JOBS & INFRASTRUCTURE

AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE

PROTECTING MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY

RELEASING STUDENTS FROM LIFETIME DEBT TRAPS

UNIONS

MODERN ENERGY DEVELOPMENT

and now apparently includes

MORE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS

Sad.

Given Chris Kyle was killed by a bloke he knew was armed, what hope would teachers have?

He who shoots first with intent usually wins, so why do Americans seem to think that a teacher who is presumably engaged in the business of teaching will be able to react quickly enough? Isn't it just going to ensure that teachers get shot first "just in case"?

Never mind though, the Florida legislature has decided that pornography is a serious health risk and that every school should prominently display the legend "In God We Trust". Presumably the next time this happens and the "In god we trust" sign gets all blood spattered they'll mandate that it has to be easily wiped down.

Is he high?
So how often would these teacher commandos get training?
What do you mean? I think it's a great idea.

After all, when a building full of people get taken hostage or there's a shooter in a busy place like a school who do we call out? The SAS or Mrs Jones with her week worth of training and the pistol she's had stuck in her drawer since first day she was back in work after her pistol user course?

Watching BBC coverage of Trump's meeting with the relatives of school shooting victims- I noted one thing:

He asked - "is there anyone here who can offer their solution to this?".

I thought that was indicative of someone who was in charge and being receptive to wider opinions.
It's indicative that that's what was written on the script the mong needed to take in with him to remind him to be nice to kids who've just been through a school shooting

Ooohhh.

Gonna get the popcorn out for this one.

“It’s Me or Jared”: Inside the West Wing, the Kelly-Kushner Feud Gets Ugly

So, smarting from the (alleged) wife beating chap with a temporary clearance chit, General Kelly has decide to clear house on people with extended temporary security clearances. Which includes the wunderkid Jared. Whose sole qualification appears to be that he is the first son-in-law.

So, Jared either got his paperwork done very quickly, or father-in-law has to issue a waiver it would appear.

Now, one must take into account previous Vanity Fair reporting.

Has Jared Kushner Been Targeted by Chinese Spies?

You can either take it as evidence of a fake news agenda, or a question mark over his level of judgement.

Not unreasonable. He had several questions.
Any sentient adult human shouldn't need to be reminded to ask children who've just watched 17 of their mates and teachers being slaughtered what they want to tell him or to tell them that people in power are there for them.

It's not like the several questions he had were complicated points of law or involved economic figures or something similar where a reminder of the exact point would be reasonable, is it?

Look at the pic again, the skin tone is a human shade and not cuprinol autumn gold fence paint.
Obvious fake Donald...

Obviously the best solution would be to have a cop on call who could get there in quick time...

Oh...

You Don't know man, you were not there (neither was he).

Courage is standing in front of a crowd and inciting/excusing violence.

Meanwhile another member of the Trump circus pleads guilty and offers to co-operate with the federal authorities.

Rick Gates, Trump Campaign Aide, Pleads Guilty in Mueller Inquiry and Will Cooperate

Deputy campaign chairman, apparently. Probably actually a coffee maker. Or maybe his offences were committed a long time ago.

Never mind.

That memorable phrase about Mueller chewing through White House staff like Pac man spring to mind.

It is not even close to a demolition.

Two weeks ago I offered my prediction for the content of the Schiff Counter Memo.

Protestations of Rosenstein's innocence. They will pick on this one because Rod Rosenstein was mentioned in the Nunes Memo twice. He is the only member of the DOJ/FBI FISA Warrant Cabal who has not been sacked or demoted. (Apart from Priestap, but watch this space.) Because of that I am almost inclined to agree with Schiff that Rosenstein might be blameless. I am always conscious of the fact that Trump sacked Comey on the advice of Rosenstein...

OK I got that wrong. Schiff (foolishly)decided to 'white knight' Bruce Ohr instead. The Dems have thrown Rosenstein under a bus here.

A whole lot of dissembling whether the Clinton/Steele dossier was “essential” to the FISA application. They have to play this card even though it exposes Schiff to charges of extreme hypocrisy. If the amendments to the FISA act, that Schiff proposed back in 2013had been adopted, the FISA warrant on Carter Page would never have issued...

I got this 100% correct. The trick that Schiff uses to dissemble is to conflate the timeline of the Criminal investigation and the subsequent Counterintelligence investigation. Steele first approached the FBI with his allegations on July 5, 2016

A justification that the FBI properly informed the FISA court that the Clinton/Steele dossier was politically motivated. In two foot notes...

Correct again

The FBI's previous interest in Carter Page. This will be the area I predict that will be most heavily redacted. Again this is deliberate because of his involvement in the Buryakov case and goes directly to 'sources and methods'...

Correct again. It was the most heavily redacted and no reference was made to the Buryakov case in which Carter Page was instrumental in achieving a conviction. This isn't even a secret.

That the FBI's Russia investigation existed before the Clinton/Steele dossier was published: They will of course mention George Papadopoulos. What they will neglect to mention is that Steele was on the FBI payroll three weeks before anyone in the FBI had ever heard of Papadopoulos...

Again Bingo. When the DOJ/FBI applied for the FISA warrant in October, Papadopulos had not even been interviewed by the FBI. This interview did not take place until January 2017. All the FBI/DOJ had in October was a rumour passed on from the Australian High Commissioner in London, Alexander Downer to the Australian Ambassador in Washington, Joe Hockey who passed the 'email' information on to the FBI. It was weak evidence then and is still weak.

A deliberate attempt to conflate the FISA application with an (R) effort to undermine the Mueller enquiry. This has already been addressed by Trey Gowdy. Gowdy has already said.

"There is a Russia investigation without a dossier. So to the extent the memo deals with the dossier and the FISA process, the dossier has nothing to do with the meeting at Trump Tower. The dossier has nothing to do with an email sent by Cambridge Analytica. The dossier really has nothing to do with George Papadopoulos' meeting in Great Britain. It also doesn't have anything to do with obstruction of justice. So there's going to be a Russia probe, even without a dossier."

While I have faith in Mueller's integrity, his enquiry thus far has been an abject failure.

The only scalps he has claimed have been:

13 Russian Trolls who will never see the interior of a US Court Room.

A blatant stitch up of Rick Gates, Alex Van Der Zwaan and Paul Manafort on matters completely unrelated to the Trump campaign.

A guilty plea of lying to the FBI by the hapless Papadopoulos.

A guilty plea from Michael Flynn, which remarkably looks likely to fall over.

Meanwhile, the arch villain of Schiff's memo, Carter Page, walks around a free man!

Will Mueller manage to flip Manafort? If he does I think Trump will be in serious trouble.
Manafort is 100% gone.

Of all the little fish that Mueller has thrown into his creel, Manafort is the one that closely approximates the legal size limit.

Manafort was an absolute idiot to take on the job of Campaign Manager. He was always going to be a target. By the time Mueller is done with him he will be financially crippled and will get the most jail time of those currently in the bag.

If the Washington Post is correct and I believe that they are. In an effort to alleviate his personal debts, Paul Manafort sent an email offering to give Oleg Deripaska private briefings on the 2016 Presidential race. Mueller now has this email. That is a fact. A - 'Go to jail do not collect $200' fact.

This side deal of Manafort's and his 'offer' of personal briefings to Deripaska is the closest Mueller will ever get to 'Russian collusion' from the Trump Campaign.

Two important things need to be recognised when the MSM eventually rediscover this fact.

Firstly, there is zero evidence that anyone else involved in the Trump Campaign was aware of Manafort's personal side gig.

Secondly, Trump cashiered Manafort the minute that he became aware of his dodgy Ukranian dealings.

Manafort will be the first among many to sport handcuffs.
