The Trump Presidency...

I have read about a Republican party like this before.... it was in 1804 and the leader was called Emperor Napoleon.......... only main difference was that Napoleon was sane.

I'm hoping it was meant to be ironic, else labrat and ipso facto have a new friend (or sock).

Like those who have been pursued and prosecuted?

It is of course true that many protest/riot cases have been dropped.
The Capitol protesters/rioters should have thought about that before generating the evidence against them by videoing and posting on social media.
Among both examples there is a mix of those with absolute intent and those who went along with the mob. But for the Capitol they were incited by the president (whether intentionally or naively), conspired in collusion with Trumps entourage and promised immunity (whether or not they were offered with genuine intent)

Actually, now you bring it up.... the 1864 election looks a bit dodgy, I don't think some of the southern states votes were counted correctly..... prehaps we should have an audit?

But they should be treated as leniently as their Antifa peers. If you are going to crack down one group because they are not of your political tribe, don’t be surprised when they don’t care for the system and have no faith in it.

Should the police ignore the online confessions in order to balance out with antifa who weren’t arrogant / stupid enough to self incriminate?

Should a Vice Presidential candidate tweet support and help raise bail money for rioters?
Should a president tell supporters that he will pay their legal fees to beat up a heckler?
Should a president tell supporters to take over the Capitol building and stop the count?
Should a president offer immunity & pardons for those who will commit crimes on his behalf?

Prob not.
He didn’t tell them to take over the Capitol per say, but the message was pretty clear.
That is an executive privilege, and something that is used by both parties.

Both sets of alleged criminals should be judged on the crimes that they are charged with and the evidence presented and according to the jurisdiction in which they are tried (state / federal etc.), nothing more and nothing less and certainly not because of any political affiliations.

Prob not.

Its 'executive privilege' to call for insurrection? Or have I misunderstood you?

Well done, in justifying Trump as having had presidential executive privilege to do what ever he wanted then Biden also has presidential executive privilege to do what ever he wants

When you call for a dictatorship you may not get the dictator that you were looking for

To offer a pardon. Apologies in a bit of a dead zone.

I never asked for a dictatorship. Trump was not in the business of attempting to stack the SC, and the GOP did not alter the filibuster. Two items that are on the wish list of the Democrats.

Whoopsy.

'Donald Trump’s former campaign chief Steve Bannon has been indicted by a grand jury for defying a subpoena to appear before the US Congress to testify about the January 6 storming of the Capitol.

'A federal magistrate was expected to issue an arrest warrant for Bannon following the criminal indictment.'
