The Trump Presidency...

Betraying the Kurds and their US support overnight is not something that can be fixed overnight... or even in a generation... ask the Brits, we are experts!
The US has a long history of screwing over the Kurds, in the last 40 odd years the counter is up to 7 major betrayals. They know that a Rep POTUS normally is not good news for them.
The Kurds have an old saying about the mountains being their only true friends and given how they have been treated over history.

The latest betrayal of the mainly Kurdish SDF is going to leave a sour taste in a lot of Rep voters mouths and I would surprised if the Dems do not use it as leverage in the elections. Trump fucked up biggly.

But, is the USA still providing financial aid and equipment to the Kurds after this last betrayed?

What was the bigger objective to Trump's actions?

What is Bidden's policy for a Kurdish nation?

Bypassing like assigning your power hungry wife as an unelected official to determine healthcare for all Americans?

Ignoring like sending troops to Syria without any congressional authorization?

Sabotaging like ramming through his new deal policies and threatening to pack the Supreme court with 15 justices if he didnt get his way and SCOTUS ruled against his policies?

See ALL Presidents do that

FDR sent 120,000 Japanese-Americans to concentration camps because the man famous for saying
"We have nothing to fear, except fear itself"

feared his fellow Americans Race.
It's a good thing you don't support him, else we might jump to entirely the wrong conclusions.

I'm sure you would have had the same opinion if this had been Obama or Hilary. You may remember that during the 2016 election Trump said his taxes were under audit but he would release the information as soon as the audit was done and yet here we are. Trump has claimed that his administration is the most transparent ever, if he's got nothing to hide he has nothing to fear and as you didn't vote for him why the concern.
Opinion may change depending on what side of the political fence you sit on, but the defence still remains the same.

Legally Trump does not have to release them. Yes he promised to and has now back tracked after the 2016 leaking of state tax returns (2005). He will have to square that with the voters come November.

While seeing Trump embarrassed by a leak of his tax returns by Congress (should they ever get them) would bring joy to me, it would tarnish Congress' reputation.
The Dems fishing trip for dirt is also setting a dangerous presidence for when the Reps retake the house.

Interesting - thank you.

What's been the cost to Mexico so far?
I don’t know - how much have the remittances fallen since Trump was elected? What has the Mexican government had to spend on the Scores of thousands who never illegally entered the U.S because of walls/increased enforcement?

To be fair I think having a physical barrier between North and South America is a bloody good idea if you are on the rich side of it.

When you think what future disasters, - economic, political, environmental - might befall those countries South of the line then heading off the possible consequences makes a great deal of sense.

It won't make a spit of difference to the smuggling world but better to defend against a proper mass move of desperate people with a physical barrier rather than bullets.

I think it would cost Canada too much though...

It appears that Trump's favoured rally site of Tulsa has not just benefitted from the Covid.
The Supreme Court has just handed legal jurisdiction of Eastern Oklahoma, including Tulsa, to the local Indian nation, which puts a lot of their legal matters into Federal hands.

The irony is that a Supreme Court Conservative appointed by Trump sided with the liberals in a case brought by a convicted sex offender.
Such themes just seem to run through the Trump Presidency.

Oh, so they've not actually paid anything for building the wall. I now await the 'that's not what Trump meant' cries - which may (who knows) be true, but that's not how he sold it to his base.

The wife did manage to find a sugar free sweet chili sauce which was used to marinade the chicken above. Pretty decent and a great way to up your grilling game.

But that is a question, for you lot. How serious is grilling and smoking meat in the U.K.?
Looks tasty.

Grilling / smoking - not widespread. Lots of people have a BBQ in the 4 days of sunshine per year, but not many take it as seriously as the US do - sadly.

One wonders just what environmental damage the building of such a wall would cause in the first place... For example there is presumably a great deal of wildlife that will be affected by it, much of it migratory.

In any case many of the problems that the countries south of the US have their roots in all the buggering about that the US did in the last century eg helping banana companies by overthrowing governments. Perhaps the money that they're pissing away on a wall could be better spent making those countries less undesirable.

I beg to differ. In the UK people will barbecue in the pouring rain. That's taking it seriously right there.
I had a BBQ on Christmas Eve* many moons ago.

Sweated my bollox off and froze my arrse off at the same time. The temperature gradient between the two was about 40C/metre.

(* My sister had just come back from Oz and it was a sort of celebration of what she was missing).

You'd think there was something in there that he doesn't want people to see, odd seeing he kept saying he'd release them during the election.
Do you really think they'll find anything in the tax returns?! Those idiots chasing it thinking there's something are only digging a hole for themselves. What's good for the president is going to be good for congress, judges and everyone else in government. He's playing a game with the DS.

His biggest fear about the release of his tax returns is that:

a) People will find out that he is nowhere near as rich as he claims to be and may in fact be in debt. He has either sued or threatened to sue magazines like Forbes which seriously downgraded his wealth in their richest person surveys. He claimed $12Billion - they estimated £400million.

b) The extent to which he is in hock to foreign banks. Some of these may or may not be connected to Russia.

c) The extent to which his family have been moving cash around to evade tax.

d) The extent to which he has been using money from charities for private use.

e) The extent to which his businesses are based on an internal Ponzi scheme, robbing Peter to pay Paul.

f) The parlous financial state of his golf courses (apart from Mar a Lago which has had a colossal cash injection from the US Government).

g) Ditto his property portfolio as clients fled in droves.

I'm sure there are probably other reasons.

I think they will find what they are looking for, that hush money was paid to a porn star.

ANd what about the cost in American lives? What about the economic cost? If you researched, they actulally spend millions on helping animals move through the border in areas. Also we spend a metric shit ton trying to help those countries living conditions better. But you didn't research anything.
