The Trump Presidency...

Trump is like a fictional mad US President in a very bad and unbelievable airport novel.
Exactly that but as I alluded to in the racism thread that seems to be how a good proportion of the US thinks things should be done.

"Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you! “

Trump is like a fictional mad US President in a very bad and unbelievable airport novel.
He is also like the presidents from some very good novels by first class authors like Jack London, Phillip Roth, Sinclair Lewis and others.

This is a description of It Can't Happen Here by Lewis:

The novel describes the rise of Berzelius "Buzz" Windrip, a demagogue who is elected POTUS after fomenting fear and promising drastic economic and social reforms while promoting a return to patriotism and "traditional" values. After his election, Windrip takes complete control of the government and imposes totalitarian rule.
And this is President Crews in the film Idiocracy:

the electorate is beguiled by a five-time wrestling champ and ex-porn star who ascends to the highest office in the land.
Not quite Donny Dettol but the same vein. Even the worst president in fiction listened to his scientists though. Mike Judge intended that as a ridiculous satire. He seems to have forgotten that satire died with Kissinger.

Eloquently put.

The last 4 years have been like a spoof comedy of unbelievable situations.

But on the bright side, if Trump is taken out of play and Pence steps in a POTUS then I win £1000.

Belzebub is having a great day today, the smell of sulphur everywhere as the Police arrest a CNN news crew.

the Sacred Scrolls lawyers will have a field day.

If we were to apply the same metrics in France, the police would be issued Miniguns....
Well I wouldn’t blame them, still being suckled to the milk from Germany.

There's a short SF story (it might be the one by Vonnegut but I think there's another on the same subject) about people being "handicapped" down to the lowest common denominator (masks for the pretty, constant interruptions for the clever etc) in which the president is elected from the most "normal" (eg thick) people in the country. I can't remember any exact quotations but the fist Trump tweet I read reminded me instantly of the story - the ignorance, the bluster and the mean-spirited viciousness.

The Vonnegut story was Harrison Bergeron.

The other story might have been The Sirens Of Titan, which is similar (people being handicapped with bags of lead shot). And also written by Vonnegut. He must have ripped himself off.

It all seemed a bit stupid, they were clearly a news crew carrying ID and actually reporting live, the only explanation they received was "we're just following orders".

That excuse worked well last time after all.

She left Fox because she wasn't going to get on TV. Then:

She began supporting Trump after receiving advice over cocktails from Michael Marcantonio, a fellow summer associate at a law firm and a Democrat. He told her “Donald Trump is going to be your nominee,” and if “a smart, young, blond Harvard graduate” wanted “to get on television and have a career as a political pundit, you would be wise to be an early backer”.
And you believe this?!!

Yep, with rioting comes shooting and lawlessness specially those groups who want to protect their property. The National Guard will be sent in to stop this stupidity.

This is ALL a show.

Look up The Presidents latest twitter post clarifying his comment.

YUM
The orange idiot changed the story because somebody wearing big boy pants told him the first one made him look like a twat, you are living proof that idiots like you swallow it all down.
