The Trump Presidency...

I wonder just how many marginal senatorial seats there are are with GOP incumbents that are due in 2019? There's not so much opportunity for gerrymandering in senate elections.
Some of them are going to start wondering, "What are my chances of re-election with Trump at the top of the ballot paper?"

If he is - its working out. If you really look at his positions on China/ NAFTA/border security/immigration from before he was a candidate - His agenda is there.

Its the tweeting/trolling/Public speaking style that distracts and makes heads explode.
He comes across as a bit of an idiot but he is far from it and is also a very shrewd businessman. He is certainly not to be underestimated.

No, he is not a shrewd businessman. He is a crook and a lech with a talent for Public relations.
He has never been anything else.

Considering that four out of six of those marginal seats are from states one might characterise as "Trump no matter what he's done" then perhaps his chances of surviving impeachment are strong.
I dont know where you get your news, but his 'chance' to survive is 99.9%.

So basically what the GOP and the Truppits are saying is "we don't care that he did something wrong, we don't care that he can order staff to defy a Congress subpoena, we don't care that he has claimed complete immunity as President while in power, and we don't care because he is OUR guy."

Which is fine, fill your boots America, but if he wins the impeachment battle, then any President no matter whether Republican or Democratic can now feel empowered to do whatever they want free of any oversight or restrictions.

So given Trumps disposition, do you think:

A} He will be grateful that he got away with it and become a better President,
or
B} He will be so full of himself that he will go absolutely berserk.

My money is on B.

This will be a step backward for American Democracy, a step towards a Dictatorship, and the same people defending Trump now will be crying the blues if the country turns democratic in 2020 or 2024.

Indeed, but that doesn't say much for the integrity of your senators does it?

Oh, boys...

Knowing the Yanks it won't be very lucrative for (most of*) us but it will be for them.
Enjoy your shite hormone-packed, lot-forced beef everybody.

*I'm sure Liam Fox and co will be laughing all the way to the bank with their brown envelopes.

Huh? It doesnt say much for the intergrity of the case the Democrats brought forward. It has been a partisan kangaroo court so far - And the next step will be a Partisan Kangaroo court, but controlled by the opposite party.

Wait till they reshape the NHS in the image of American healthcare.............and the associated insurance fee's. And yes, they have been planning that for age's it has been mentioned on several talking heads proggie's here in the vein of, "Boris wants free trade then as far as we are concerned that includes health insurance".

Trade has not much to do with health care other than the meds the NHS are aready getting from Pharma for 1/10 the cost we are paying in the US, in effect, all of US subsidizing your care. Weird how deep those socialist roots can run, eh?

And, have you ever used an Emergency Room at a hospital in the US? Stuffed full of doleys and their kids with sniffles clogging up the system getting their free cough syrup, band-aids and biff chits, instead of going to their GP for free on the same medicare/medicaid/universal card. Same shit as NHS just a different name for the pipe to the trough. At least our ambulances show up in a few minutes, and we don't have to wait forever for a specialist appointment, and those with money and insurance can find urgent care in minutes, every handful of blocks, needed or not, for $100.

I understand that the elections are in November 2020, but it is December 13th 2019 and Bloomberg for Prez adverts have been running since last night, going to be a long fcuking 11 months......

More than half the drugs I've personally come across in the UK- which is a poor sample size, as didn't need many - are of the generic variety, which were manufactured in Canada, India etc as the patents had expired.

I don't know about the more expensive stuff.

No basically what they are saying is you'd better have the goods on him if you want us to convict, just wetting yourselves because he won in 2016 over the cu nt hillary isn't enough.

Dictator? oh you prince of hysteria, do You mean like sending (via Executive Order 9066) 120,000+ Americans to concentration camps? because he's done nothing even close to that level of dictatorship, But do soil yourself sweetie while imagining the big bad trump under your bed .

Defy Subpoenas? Eric Holder as AG did the same thing

To most Americans he doesn't figure into their day to day lives (neither did his predecessors) Over half the people I work with in NYC would be termed confirmed LW(US version) and dont care about his Impeachment

Tell you what though you feel so strongly go form a Majjor Atlee company to fight him. you too can be the next Tom Wintringham

Apparently didumms is upset that Greta Thorn-in-the side received the U.S Time Person of the Year,

On Thursday the Leader of the Free World, President Donald Trump, attacked the 16 year old, who is on the autism spectrum, as having an “Anger Management problem. Greta won the Award.

Trump, is still in the running for Dummy of the Year and he did make the Russki one.

Trump family double-standards; who would have believed such a thing.

'First lady Melania Trump was blasted online for refusing to stand up to her husband’s attacks on teenager Greta Thunberg, who has become a climate activist demanding a cleaner future for her generation. The first lady’s campaign “Be Best,” is supposed to fight bullying, but when it comes to the bullying by her husband, Mrs. Trump has a blind spot. She explained in a tweet Friday that since Thunberg is an activist she deserves whatever she gets. By contrast, no one can mention her son with the president.

'Mrs. Trump and the president’s children lashed out at a constitutional law professor for using Barron Trump’s name as an example of the president’s power. “He can name his son Barron he cannot make him a baron.” The first lady called it “an attack on a minor child.” The professor later apologized for daring to say the president’s son’s name in public. But when Trump raged at Thunberg for beating him for TIME’s Person of the Year, it wasn’t considered bullying, something the internet called absurd. #BeBest began trending nationally as the first lady was ripped for refusing to follow her own example'

I’m not sure I understand the economics underlying that statement. I don’t see how the pricing/cost of US pharmaceuticals subsidises the NHS.

Firstly, the U.K. and Europe have large indigenous pharmaceutical sectors so the drugs they produce have nothing to do with the US.

I imagine any drugs we buy from the US are sold at a profit by the manufacturer. I doubt if Big Pharma does freebies.

In any case it appears to be more of a U.K.->US one-way street. US pharmaceutical exports to the U.K. hardly register but US imports of U.K. pharmaceuticals count as a “top import category” ($5 billion in 2018 - USTR data). That will include drugs manufactured in the U.K. by US companies based here (Pfizer, for example. So you should thank the Brits for subsidising the invention of Sildenafil which supports millions of American stiffies).

In any case, the NHS has zero drug manufacturing capability and is as much at the mercy of rapacious Big Pharma as American consumers.

There is no subsidy of U.K. drugs by the US.

If you pay ten times the price we pay (all my drugs are free, to me at least, so I couldn’t GAF) you need to have a word with your Pharmas as they are screwing you.

As this is the Trump thread here are the facts, from the Executive Office Of The President: United Kingdom | United States Trade Representative
