The Trump Presidency...

Not sure if anyone watched the live shit show this afternoon with our favourite moron, I know I didn't I prefer to watch the clips afterwards along with the comments.

Here is Spanky's 60 second synopsis.

It started well:

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto to Trump: "Mr. President, you have here a great democracy. Keep it going on."

Fox News gets the first question and asked dumbo how the meeting went.

Trump immediately goes on a lengthy rant. He ultimately accuses Adam Schiff of "a criminal act" and "treason."

Trump ranted uninterrupted for about 5 minutes,

Trump accuses Adam Schiff of helping the whistleblower write his complaint. He then advises reporters to ask Putin how tough he's been on Russia. Trump name-drops Rush Limbaugh and Hannity to gas himself up.

Trump says the Ukraine call memo released by the White House is "exact" and "word for word" -- even though it says on the very first page that it is not in fact a transcript.

TRUMP: "There are those who think I am a very stable genius, ok,, "I will be bringing a lot of litigation against a lot of people having to do with the corrupt investigation, having to do with the 2016 election."

Trump berates @jeffmason1 after Mason presses him to actually answer the question he asked (he never does).

The Finnish president can't help but snigger at the shit show.

Trump starts to be lose it. He highjacks a question intended for the Finnish president and rants about how there weren't any "wins" before he took office.

Trump attacks CNN and then abruptly ends the news conference.
Sometime during the day he talked about Liddle and Mike Pompus.

Trump Is Going to Burn Down Everything and Everyone, and Republicans, That Means You

"Donald Trump’s Oval Office performance art masterpiece today was one for the ages, a pity-party, stompy-foot screech session by President Snowflake von Pissypants, the most put-upon man to ever hold the highest office in the land. If you watched his nationally televised Oval Office press conference, Trump’s shrill, eye-popping hissy fit scanned like the end of a long, coke-fueled bender where the itchy, frenzied paranoia is dry-humping the last ragged gasps of the earlier party-powder fun.

Between calling Congressman Adam Schiff a panoply of Trumpish insults (and for him to be held for treason), engaging in his usual hatred of the press, talking about Mike Pompeo’s intimate undergarments, and quite obviously scaring the shit out of Finnish President Sauli Niinisto – who looked like he was the very unwilling star of an ISIS hostage video – Trump spent the day rapidly decompensating, and it was a hideous spectacle. All the Maximum Leader pronunciamentos won’t change the reality that he’s lost his shit........."
One of the more difficult things to do these days is sorting the wheat from the chaff and finding decent sensible articles, unless I am posting a complete wind up, I tend to avoid headlines with 'Bombshell', 'Here's Why', 'Rage', 'Fury', or similar click bait story's which are usually pathetic attempts to gain ad-revenue. To that end these are just two of the better magazines that tend to write good explanations of just what is going on, TIME Magazine & The Atlantic besides articles on Chump they also have sections that are well worth looking at.
Conspiracy theories abound in Chumpland these days more so than they have ever done.

The latest one that the unStable Genius in charge is filling Truppit diaper's with is that Schiff read the report before hand, and maybe even wrote it himself.

  • Trump and his allies made a number of unsubstantiated claims based on the story.
  • They alleged that the whistleblower potentially broke the law by going to Congress before filing the complaint; that the committee's Democratic chairman had early access to all the whistleblower's allegations; and that the chairman collaborated with the whistleblower to draft the complaint.
  • None of the claims withstand scrutiny. National security experts told Insider it's common and legal for whistleblowers to do what the CIA officer did, and that there are multiple paths available for whistleblowers to convey their concerns.House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff only knew of the "broad outlines" of the whistleblower's allegations from the committee aide. And he couldn't have helped draft it because the whistleblower only gave the aide a "vague" characterization of their concerns.

Broadly, Trump and his loyalists' criticisms in the wake of The Times story fall into three categories:

  • The whistleblower acted improperly, and potentially violated the law, by going to the intelligence committee before filing the complaint.
  • Schiff had early access to all the whistleblower's allegations.
  • Schiff worked with the whistleblower to draft the complaint.
None of these claims hold up.

One of the reporters who wrote The Times story noted on Twitter that despite Trump's claims, the outlet "did NOT report that Adam Schiff helped write the whistleblower's complaint. In fact, Schiff did not even know the whistleblower's identity.
We know none of this will stop Truppits and Chump from ignoring the facts and repeat their claims repeatedly until they obfuscate the truth but at least we have it on the record.

Incidentally, I agree that the New York Times reporting is very often stupid and does more harm than good, a bit like the DM really.

At the very least China will now see investigating Trump’s potential political opponent as a bargaining chip in the ongoing trade negotiations.

From the article:
“The president is openly and expressly seeking a foreign government to provide him with assistance in the form of a law enforcement investigation into the president’s primary political opponent for re-election,” Moss said. “Regardless of whether it falls explicitly under campaign finance or bribery provisions, this kind of behavior almost certainly is violative of the president’s oath of office and will be cited as yet another exhibit in likely articles of impeachment for abuse of power.”

Just found out. He has lifts in his shoes. He claims he is 6’3 but is really 6’0 maybe 6’1. Turns out he wants to be taller than Obama.

the man is a fecking loon
So no answer, just more of the orangemanbad howler monkey schtick?

Alexander Downer was either reporting via five eyes channels or free-lancing. Which do you think it was?

As one of Danger Downer's last acts as Australian Foreign Minister, he donated $25M to the Clinton Foundation. Do you think this contribution politically compromised him? If he was in fact freelancing was this political disposition his motivation? Is that reasonable?

If Downer was free-lancing while UK High Commissioner was that appropriate behaviour? Would that represent precisely the same sort of foreign interference in the US 2016 election that the Mueller Enquiry sought but failed to prove? That would be some sort of double standard surely?

Papadopoulos' and Downer's accounts of their London Wine bar meeting vary considerably. I thought Andrew C McCarthy did a reasonable job reconciling both versions. Your thoughts?

Why is it do you think that Papadopoulos went to jail for telling fibs and James Comey and Andrew McCabe did not? Does this represent a double standard?

Thanks in advance.

Top tip. Never post shite you haven't read first.

What a massive own goal.

Schiff's impeachment narrative was predicated on Trump withholding Military Aid to the Ukraine as the quid pro quo for an investigation into Joe Biden and his dodgy son Hunter.

Trump phoned Zelensky on the 25th of July.

Zelensky was not even aware of the aid halt until August 29th.

Schiff is a desperate idiot grasping at straws.

What compelled you to post this? Was it - Duh, this looks like some Orangeman bad I'll hit the send button?

"Trump’s calls with foreign leaders have long worried aides, leaving some ‘genuinely horrified’

Aides bristled at the dismissive way he sometimes addressed longtime U.S. allies, especially women.
In a summer 2018 call with Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump harangued the British leader about her country’s contribution to NATO. He then disputed her intelligence community’s conclusion that Putin’s government had orchestrated the attempted murder and poisoning of a former Russian spy on British soil.
“Trump was totally bought into the idea there was credible doubt about the poisoning,” said one person briefed on the call. “A solid 10 minutes of the conversation is spent with May saying it’s highly likely and him saying he’s not sure.”
Trump would sometimes make commitments to foreign leaders that flew in the face of U.S. policy and international agreements, as when he told a Saudi royal that he would support their country’s entry into the G-7.........."

CIA top lawyer made 'criminal referral' on complaint about Trump call

CIA's top lawyer made 'criminal referral' on complaint about Trump Ukraine call

"WASHINGTON — Weeks before the whistleblower's complaint became public, the CIA's top lawyer made what she considered to be a criminal referral to the Justice Department about the whistleblower's allegations that President Donald Trump abused his office in pressuring the Ukrainian president, U.S. officials familiar with the matter tell NBC News.
The move by the CIA's general counsel, Trump appointee Courtney Simmons Elwood, meant she and other senior officials had concluded a potential crime had been committed, raising more questions about why the Justice Department later declined to open an investigation.

The phone call that Elwood considered to be a criminal referral is in addition to the referral later received as a letter from the Inspector General for the Intelligence Community regarding the whistleblower complaint......."
