The Trump Presidency...

Donald Trump announces tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods

When American's will buy American goods made by American workers instead of cheap chinese shite on ripped off patents, made by kids and propping up a communist regime what's not to like?

Maybe America will return to 30 years ago when you could find fairly priced and good quality goods made in America When other countries could do the same via trade deals.

Please indulge me.
Do you think that China just keeps rocking up with a few hundred containers and distribute the 'cheap' goods by themselves or do you think that American companies order the 'cheap' goods to sell to Americans and keep costs down. Of course a lot of it could be manufactured at home but realistically countries need a two way street if they want to export home grown products.

If the Tangerine (mushroom dicked)Twat keeps up this Trade War costs will just keep on rising either by the tariff charges or because they will cost a lot more to produce the same products in the USA.

If you don't read the whole article read this part. Obviously the chaps at the World Bank are not as smart is the US Commander in Thief but whatever, a study is a study and the

A recent World Bank study confirms that neither side will win a protracted trade war. At the current level of tariff retaliation, the World Bank estimates that each country will suffer a drop in annual exports of about $40 billion. If retaliation escalates to include all two-way trade in goods and services, Chinese exports to the United States would fall by $190 billion and U.S. exports to China by $166 billion. …a worst-case scenario would result in a $426-billion loss to the Chinese economy and a $313-billion loss to the U.S. economy. The biggest losers in the United States will be agriculture, chemicals and transport equipment. It will be cold comfort to Americans who lose their jobs and their businesses that our loss is somewhat smaller than what our government inflicts on China.

Why tariff's don't work

Instead of comparing pick up trucks let's get smutty, millions and millions of people think that the current POTUS is a dick and now we get a description of the POTUS's orange widgy to record on this thread for prosperity.
Porn star Stormy Daniels compares Trump's penis to a 'toadstool' in new book
Brad Hunter

Cue the puerile penis puns!

The lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels let it slip in April that his client would “describe the president’s genitalia in great detail.”

And, now it’s here. In her torrid tome, Full Disclosure, Daniels describes U.S. President Donald Trump’s penis.

Daniels writes of the “smaller than average” presidential penis (though not “freakishly small”: “He knows he has an unusual penis. It has a huge mushroom head. Like a toadstool …

“I lay there, annoyed that I was getting f***** by a guy with Yeti pubes and a dick like the mushroom character in Mario Kart … It may have been the least impressive sex I’d ever had, but clearly, the orange fat ape doesn't share that opinion.”.

Good link. Prolly fake nooz from the World Bank. They are obviously a bunch of lefties with no understanding of global trade or international economics.

The Amber Ogre has no idea about International trade whatsoever.

I read a quote in an economics book once (can’t remember who, but maybe Ha-Joon Chang) which said something like “if you want Japanese cars you grow them in the wheat fields of the Mid-West”.

Not something the multiply bankrupt, tax dodging, loan defaulting property spiv that is His Bigly Orangenesss would even start to comprehend.

Well if we are getting smutty can I have a few goes on Melania. I promise to respect the office of the FLOTUS and afford her all the dignity she deserves. So I won’t insist she swallows.

And then multiple bashes on Stormy. She can swallow as I am sure she lives on a diet of knob porridge.

The hurricane and the devastation it brought certainty did not help those that suffered the high mortality rates. The lack of medical care for extended periods of time for the unhealthy and elderly population just managed to speed up the natural process. It does go to show just how the medical system does manage to prolong life expectancy.
That is what medicine was invented for.-to extend life expectancy.
What happens when a hurricane stamps your medical facilities flat is that people reliant on medical care start to die.
If you don't replace those services, more die.
This is obvious.

The question is, after the hurricane hit an American possession, inhabited by American citizens, did the Government act to replace those services, as quickly as possible, or not?
If not, it was complicit in the deaths of those citizens.
But they were only brown people, so that is all right..

The issue is that those folks also had a duty to prepare for natural disasters which they did not. If you expect government to save your ass you are higher than a kite.
Bullshit.
PR was an economic basket case before the hurricane. That was largely down to Federal mismanagement of an overseas possession.

How exactly were they supposed to prepare, with no funds?
The same argument could be used for all the southern states vulnerable to hurricanes, yet they aren't blamed for wanting Federal aid.

I was thinking more along the lines of the personal duty to prepare yourself and family...... You know the basics food, water, first aid kit, appropriate clothing for the climate, some spare cash. You know common sense type shit.

Consumables, you mean? What do you expect them to do when they've consumed it all and the government still hasn't got its shit in one sock? Or if their preparations were destroyed by the very disaster they were prepared for?

Be prepared to take care of yourself for an extended period of time.........without government assistance. If you are shocked by the speed of bureaucracy you have only yourself to blame.

You folks and your cradle to the grave dependency on Government scare me.

How do dirt poor people who have nothing get hold of surpluses of anything to prepare?

I would say you could do quite a bit on ten to fifteen bucks a month if you are willing to give up a few vices.
Super glue and cheap lighters aren't going to help when your kid's asthama inhalers run out or when there's no electric and granny's turning yellow because it's time for dialysis.

Without power you've got virtually no hospital treatment (either emergency, ongoing or neo-natal, which all rely on electricity to an extent), you've got no refrigeration either for food or for any number of medicines that have to be kept cold, the sewerage systems aren't going to be working so you've got outbreaks of diseases like dysentery and cholera, you lose the mobile phone network which could affect the emergency services (if they rely on Airwave type systems that work over the mobile network) and which means that you're unable to communicate with rescue services, find out about safe areas, etc. You may not be able to cook either (you're going to struggle to find dry fuel in a major flood and whatever gas/solid fuel you may have prepped with isn't going to last you all that long unless you fancy trying to stay afloat with a 35Kg gas bottle strapped to your back).

Prepping seems like a nice idea and it might get you through a few days in a relatively benign environment. The reality is that in a real shit hits the fan situation like a major natural disaster it's going to make absolutely no difference whatsoever after a few days because there's only so much food, fuel and clean water people can manpack and in a situation of total devastation like PR there's nowhere to go once it runs out because their government abandoned them.

Super glue and floss will be dead handy for when your house gets blown away or submerged.

I heard an interview on Radio 5 early this morning with a woman who evacuated with her family, she mentioned the motel she was staying in had put their prices up.
