The Snowflake Generation

Another potential Darwin awardee slips (or doesn't in this case) while trying for that perfect Instagram moment. By her behaviour, apparently no great loss to the gene pool.

'A young woman has shocked onlookers as she dangled from the 11th floor of a high rise resort in Mooloolaba to capture the perfect photo.

'The dangerous move was captured by an onlooker named “James” from a neighbouring hotel who told reporters “one slip and she’s gone”, The Courier Mail reported.

“Next photo might have been her on the ground,” he said.

'The footage shows the girl clinging to the railing of the Mooloolaba’s Seaview Resort, while another person takes photos. At one point she kneels down on the ledge so the photographer can capture a better angle and raises one of her arms up in what appears to be a wave. As the photo-shoot wraps up she seems to struggle momentarily but pulls herself up and over the balcony to safety.'

What a waste they should have zoomed in and got a proper upskirt

Look back a few years to the Great Depression and the Army being deployed to the streets of Liverpool. We have this sense that it was always better back then and people were better than they are today (with the exception of us - we are f***ing brilliant, only break the rules when they are stupid unlike the younger generation etc etc). It's a bit like being in a traffic jam and complaining about the traffic - WE ARE THE TRAFFIC!

Oh dear, how sad. Obviously no-one else suffered this problem.

'Who should I pay? The virus will need to be paid for eventually, but it should not be those in work paying taxes who shoulder the burden. Young people, in their teens and twenties, have lost an important year of living their lives how they would wish, having been denied social interaction, access to the arts, and activities that are formative in their lives.'

Couple of generations lost more than that doing national service and fighting various wars. The tart should dry up and get the brews on.

Dozy bint, though it also seems that the aptly-named 'Mis(s)guided' editorial team don't have two braincells to rub together either.

'A UK influencer has been slammed after she was caught out editing photos to hide the backdrop of her Maldives break.

'Zara McDermott, a former Love Island UK contestant turned Instagram star, broke England’s tier 4 restrictions which ban overseas travel to take a secret trip to the Maldives with her boyfriend, Sam Thompson.

'In one of Zara’s latest pics she cropped out the tropical backdrop of her holiday for an Instagram post promoting her new gymwear line. But embarrassingly for the 24-year-old, Missguided‘s official Instagram posted the original image clearly showing her location.

'But when Missguided posted the unedited photo on their account showing her breaking the UK’s travel ban shoppers were up in arms. “Forgot to edit the picture? Unforgivable that someone would break Tier 4 travel rules and fly off to the Maldives,” one Instagram user commented. A second penned: “This is taken in the gym at AyClub in the Ayada hotel in the Maldives where she went for holiday while in Tier 4 lockdown. Surprised this is being used as a promotional picture when she broke the law.”

Is that a 'snowflake' or just a dumb prick?

All of the above: ‘Instagram influencer’, and hardly seemed worth the importance of opening a new thread.

Wouldn't travel for an influencer count as work and thus essential travel?

My son and I got into a conversation yesterday , mainly about the US Capitol building

I explained to him that one of the reasons why it happened was all down to myself , and him

I grew up , after the war (1953-) there wasn't an awful lot of spare cash , or materials etc , and we became a bit of a "make do" society , we wanted better for our kids as they grew, we gave them all we could afford (and more sometimes). He then grew up and decided that he would do better for his kids than we'd done for ours, so everything he couldn't get that he wanted , he made sure his kids got

we are now in a society where the young want everything , now, and won't take no for an answer, and this flows on eventually to politics , when the result of an election e.g. Brexit , Scottish referendum , and in USA , when the sitting president doesn't get re elected, and these people decide they are going to protest against democracy because it wasn't the democratic result they wanted

they are all self entitled morons, no excuses

I did like a what my vicar posted on FB just before Christmas

"this year don't buy your kids everything that you wish you'd got when you were a child , instead why not teach them everything you wish someone had taught you as a child!"

(ps he has never forgiven his Mum for giving away his Millenium Falcon when he was 15)

That is profound - and worth reflecting on. Are today's youth rich in goods but poor in terms of things like social experiences and skills? A variation on the "give a man a fish, and you will feed him for one day....." thing.

The more you learn the less you understand you know, the less you learn the more you think you know.

No loss.

'Seven Indonesians have drowned after an overloaded boat capsized because of tourists attempting a selfie in a reservoir on Java island.

'Police said the accident happened when all 20 passengers suddenly moved to the one side of the vessel to take a group photo on Saturday in the Boyolali regency.

“The cause of the accident was overcapacity,” Central Java police chief Ahmad Lutfi told reporters. “The 20 people took a selfie on the right side then the boat lost balance and flipped.”

Something similar happened on the Nile about 10 years ago.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any crazier: perhaps you should also ask 'would you please refrain from shitting / pissing / spewing / dribbling / snotting (other bodily functions are available) all over me and the furniture'?

'An Australian childcare chain has offered advice on how to perform “respectful nappy changes”.

'In a post on Only About Children’s website, the early education provider – which has 70 centres across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – explains how nappy changes can be “important opportunities for learning and relationship building”.

For toddlers, Only About Children says parents should make sure nappy changes have a “respectful start”.
“Toddlers don’t like to be interrupted when they are playing. Wait for a gap in their playing before starting the nappy changing process,” the article says. “You may wish to give your toddler some autonomy and ask, ‘Would you like to walk to the change table or should I carry you?’”

I've been asked not to do that on a few occasions as well........

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

A friend has been asked not to do that on a few occasions as well

Oh dear. Yet another 'influencer' who appears to have failed to understand the influence of gravity.

'An influencer plunged 160ft to her death while videoing herself, with the phone still in her hand while she crashed to the ground.

'The tower crane operator, who went by the online handle Xiaoqiumei, had more than 100,000 followers, regularly shared videos of her daily life and occupation operating the huge crane.

'Eyewitnesses who saw her fall to the ground said she had her phone in her hand while the tragedy unfolded, at 5.40pm on Tuesday, when most of her co-workers had left the site.

'Video being shared widely online is reportedly the footage Xiaoqiumei was shooting as it bounced down the crane.'

I shouldn’t laugh, but that is funny!

It is not funny at all. It is an indictment on the cult of self celebrity, and the all consuming sense of self importance that seems to override even basic concepts of self awareness and safety.

Poor girl. How many others have died this way?

If you work as a high rise crane operator, then perhaps you should be more aware of your surroundings, environment and your own safety, rather than sharing selfies to your anonymous ‘followers’.
Perhaps I was a little inappropriate by saying it was funny and any death of a young person is a shame, but she was extremely stupid.

Additionally, as anyone who is familiar with working at height, dropped objects can be fatal.

Fair enough if you kill yourself due to your own stupidity, but her falling body could easily have killed others.

This is an interesting quote from the link:
"although her family have denied that she would have been filming while making her descent."
She made a descent? A descent is normally something that is controlled.
Before anyone else gets in, yes, or at least I would have.

Tower crane operator does not sound like the sort of job that a snowflake would do. More like a well paid, respectable working class occupation. Seems like a tragic waste of life of someone who wasn't hurting anybody.
Condolences to her family and friends.
Are there no cameras available that can be fastened to a hard-hat?
