The Roundabout Club

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. From what i can recall as a young Pilot Officer, the Roundabout club was somewhere near where the Burger King drive thru is in Aldershot now.

Back then one of the PJI's told me it was where some of the guys from the PFA, and some braver boys from Mychet used to go to get a bit of stiff moratr platoon action.

I sure one of the old boys from the MSU can cast some light on this ??

Quite correct, it was where the proud Burger King stands. Not sure about the brave lads coming down from Keogh- the RAMC semed to have no problems in Aldershot when I was there in the 1980's, in fact the Globetrotter held no fear as did the sad Fives Bar later on. Even the Queens was frequented by most of our nutters who like to go up for the crack!
  3. thanks very much, i remember the old boarded up building that used to be there when i started my trade training, didnt know it was called the roundabout club though.

Oh yes, TM, famed for running battles in the early 1970's, and even back during WW2 the Canadians turned the place in to a war zone- or so me dad told me! The RMP used to go down mob handed and the lads fighting would quickly turn on them! But apparantly the QA's were there starting the trend we know and love!

    (And no I wasn't there in 1970!- or 1944!)
  5. It could be that adastra had a different form of therapy in mind when he was talking about stiff mortar platoon action ??
