The rise of AI in the Army.

An interesting debate. The idea of using artificial intelligence (AI) in the British Army is become much more widespread. I discussed this at length with a Royal Artillery Lt Col last month and he pointed towards some really interesting technologies on the horizon. Much more than the likes of man portable drones and smart bombs. Do we think we will see a fully operational Artificial Intelligence Task Force any time soon?
At present the only way to ‘experience’ Combat is to serve within UKSF. Fast forward two years and people will earn medals from the comfort of an armchair inside a hanger in Oxfordshire whilst monitoring AI technology.
What are our thoughts on turning over battle decisions to non-human intelligences? Discuss and debate please.

It's all noise, and none of it will pass the daily mail test. Shite like this will need a global breakdown in relations and in which case we'll have been obliterated by the time we get to launch the first drone. Shite like this is also sold to Officers by ex Officers who are now salesmen for niche technology firms thinking they have a way in. Besides, MOD has now got to stump up millions on facemasks before they consider AI killing machines on the battlefield.

£4 million that's a drop in the ocean

dont now abut ops but we could do a shit load with AI to make JPA useable

Yep, but a drop leads to a shower, which feeds a stream and becomes a river....or some such management bill hooks.

For intelligent ship stuff, have a look at the Thales Tacticos system... Not AI, yet.
